Book Description
The George Lindsay Training Course, 1921-1942 Long Cycle, is meant to serve as both a training course for students of Lindsay's methods and to preserve the historical record of Lindsay's work. Lindsay's long cycles are analogous to secular bull and bear markets. Lindsay may be the only person in history to have a disciplined methodology for determining the beginning and ending dates for secular market cycles. This training course teaches the student to forecast those dates as well as forecast the highs and lows of Lindsay's basic cycles which correspond to cyclical bull and bear markets. In addition to detailed explanations the course contains over one-hundred large, easy-to-read charts. For modern readers, the 1921-1942 long cycle is an excellent introduction to Lindsay' work. The "shift" in long cycles seen during this period is precisely what is occurring during the first two decades of the 21st century.

Battle Tactics of the Western Front

Battle Tactics of the Western Front PDF Author: Paddy Griffith
Publisher: Yale University Press
ISBN: 9780300066630
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 310

Book Description
Historians have portrayed British participation in World War I as a series of tragic debacles, with lines of men mown down by machine guns, with untried new military technology, and incompetent generals who threw their troops into improvised and unsuccessful attacks. In this book a renowned military historian studies the evolution of British infantry tactics during the war and challenges this interpretation, showing that while the British army's plans and technologies failed persistently during the improvised first half of the war, the army gradually improved its technique, technology, and, eventually, its' self-assurance. By the time of its successful sustained offensive in the fall of 1918, says Paddy Griffith, the British army was demonstrating a battlefield skill and mobility that would rarely be surpassed even during World War II. Evaluating the great gap that exists between theory and practice, between textbook and bullet-swept mudfield, Griffith argues that many battles were carefully planned to exploit advanced tactics and to avoid casualties, but that breakthrough was simply impossible under the conditions of the time. According to Griffith, the British were already masters of "storm troop tactics" by the end of 1916, and in several important respects were further ahead than the Germans would be even in 1918. In fields such as the timing and orchestration of all-arms assaults, predicted artillery fire, "Commando-style" trench raiding, the use of light machine guns, or the barrage fire of heavy machine guns, the British led the world. Although British generals were not military geniuses, says Griffith, they should at least be credited for effectively inventing much of the twentieth-century's art of war.

Warfare in Europe 1919–1938

Warfare in Europe 1919–1938 PDF Author: Geoffrey Jensen
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1351873733
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 564

Book Description
Although ostensibly a time of peace, one of the richest and most fascinating periods in military history falls between the two world wars. With good reason, even today military theorists look to these years for relevant lessons. The articles and papers collected together in this volume highlight the major themes and developments of interwar military affairs in Europe, including the new doctrines of tank warfare, air power, German "Blitzkrieg", and Soviet operational art. They also demonstrate the important place of the major armed conflicts of the period, such as the Russian and Spanish Civil Wars, in European history.

Pages : 257

Book Description
"From 1950 through the 1970s, George Lindsay created some of technical analysis's most fertile and profitable innovations. ... Until now, however, the primary source for Lindsay's work has been his old newsletters: materials that can be difficult to find and work with. ... Carlson explains Lindsay's models clearly, simply, and visually. Using this book, you can apply Lindsay's techniques without strong mathematical expertise and without deciphering Lindsay's dense writing style. ..."--Book jacket.
