Low Frequency Scattering

Low Frequency Scattering PDF Author: George Dassios
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 9780198536789
Category : Language Arts & Disciplines
Languages : en
Pages : 322

Book Description
Scattering theory deals with the interactions of waves with obstacles in their path, and low frequency scattering occurs when the obstacles involved are very small. This book gives an overview of the subject for graduates and researchers, for the first time unifying the theories covering acoustic, electromagnetic and elastic waves.

Electromagnetic and Acoustic Scattering by Simple Shapes

Electromagnetic and Acoustic Scattering by Simple Shapes PDF Author: J. S. Asvestas
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Electromagnetic waves
Languages : en
Pages : 756

Book Description
The book represents an exhaustive study of the scattering properties of acoustically soft and hard bodies and of perfect conductors, presented for 15 geometrically-simple shapes. Such shapes are important in their own right and as a basis for synthesizing the radiation and scattering properties of more complex configurations. Each shape is treated in a separate chapter whose contents are presented in stylized format for easy reference. Emphasis is placed on results in the form of formulae and diagrams. Although no detailed derivation are included, an outline of methods in scattering theory is given in the Introduction. (Author).

Low Frequency Acoustic and Electromagnetic Scattering

Low Frequency Acoustic and Electromagnetic Scattering PDF Author: S. I. Hariharan
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Electromagnetism
Languages : en
Pages : 32

Book Description
"This paper deals with two classes of problems arising from acoustics and electromagnetics scattering in the low frequency situations. The first class of problem is solving Helmholtz equation with Dirichlet boundary conditions on an arbitrary two-dimensional body while the second one is an interior-exterior interface problem with Helmholtz equation in the exterior. Low frequency analysis show that there are two intermediate problems which solve the above problems accurate to 0(k^2 log k) where k is the frequency. These solutions greatly differ from the zero frequency approximations. For the Dirichlet problem numerical examples are shown to verify our theoretical estimates" -- abstract.

Remarks on the Inverse Scattering Problem for Low Frequency Acoustic Waves

Remarks on the Inverse Scattering Problem for Low Frequency Acoustic Waves PDF Author: David L. Colton
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 17

Book Description
In a recent series of papers (2, 3, 4) the author has investigated the low frequency inverse scattering problem for 'hard' and 'soft' infinite cylinders and 'soft' obstacles in space. It is the purpose of this paper to complete the story and consider the inverse scattering problem in space where the obstacle is 'hard', i.e. the boundary condition is of Neumann type. A basic result of the analysis to date is that the low frequency inverse scattering problem can be stabilized. In the case of domains in the plane this is accomplished by transmitting two plane waves from different directions, where the second plane wave is used to determine the transfinite diameter of the obstacle.
