It is thought that he immigrated from Ireland, then to Wales and arrived in Pennsylvania in 1708. He married Rachel Newton Jones who was born in 1662. In 1714, he moved his family to Duck Creek, Delaware. He then moved to Haddonfield, New Jersey in 1718, and to Lancaster, County, Pennsylvania in 1726. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Ohio, and elsewhere.
