Excerpt from Annual of the Gaston Baptist Association of North Carolina: Fifty-Eighth Annual Session Held With Ridge Baptist Church, Gastonia, N. C., 28052, October 21, 1976 and Riverside Baptist Church, Cramerton, N. C., 28032, October 22, 1976 Employed for seventeen years bv Welding and Industrial Supply in Gastonia, he became a Christian in 1953 and a me fiber of Modena (gateway) Baptist Church. He was called' into the gospel ministry and was ordained in 1956 by the Modena Church. The Fowlers later moved to Flint Groves Baptist Church where he served in numerous capacities and taught Sunday School at the Dallas Prison with its attendant responsibilities for four years. Beginning with night classes at Gaston College, he began to pursue his education and transferred to Appalachian State College where he received his degree in Library Science in 1971. He became Librarian at Mt. Holly Junior High School where he served for five years. George Fowler served as Librarian for the Gaston Baptist Association and helped set up the Associational Library as a multi-media center with books, audio-visual aids, etc. He held a clinic for librarians and librarians to-be from several churches who were establishing or improving their church libraries, and also worked directly with some churches.
