Fundamentals of Gas Particle Flow
Author: G Rudinger
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0444601821
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 157
Book Description
Fundamentals of Gas-Particle Flow is an edited, updated, and expanded version of a number of lectures presented on the "Gas-Solid Suspensions course organized by the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics. Materials presented in this book are mostly analytical in nature, but some experimental techniques are included. The book focuses on relaxation processes, including the viscous drag of single particles, drag in gas-particles flow, gas-particle heat transfer, equilibrium, and frozen flow. It also discusses the dynamics of single particles, such as particles in an arbitrary flow, in a rotating gas, in a Prandtl-Meyer expansion, and in an oscillating flow. The remaining chapters of the book deal with the thermodynamics of gas-particle mixtures, steady flow through ducts, pressure waves, gas-particle jets, boundary layer, and momentum transfer. The experimental techniques included in this book present the powder feeders, the instrumentation on particle flow rate, velocity, concentration and temperature, and the measurement of the particle drag coefficient in a shock tube.

Explosives
Author: Rudolf Meyer
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 3527617035
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 430
Book Description
This world-famous work has been enlarged and updated without tampering with its tried and tested format. Around 500 alphabetically ordered, monographic entries consider the physicochemical properties, production methods and safe applications of over 120 explosive chemicals, while discussing 70 fuels, additives and oxidizing agents and describing the relevant test methods. The extensive thermodynamic data has been thoroughly updated and now also provided on a CD-ROM compiled by the Fraunhofer Institute of Chemical Technology. This excerpt from the ICT Thermodynamical Database not only includes additional thermodynamic data, and references to further reading, but also features enhanced search facilities. Other key features include a 1,500-entry combined index and glossary with terms and abbreviations in English, French and German, conversion tables and numerous literature references. A handy reference for explosive experts and also for translators, public authorities and patent lawyers. From reviews of previous editions: '... This wealth of information and an index that comprises some 1500 keywords and several conversion tables make this a unique source of knowledge for anybody working with explosives.' (Propellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics)

Chemical Kinetics and Transport
Author: Peter Jordan
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461590981
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 375
Book Description
This book began as a program of self-education. While teaching under graduate physical chemistry, I became progressively more dissatisfied with my approach to chemical kinetics. The solution to my problem was to write a detailed set of lecture notes which covered more material, in greater depth, than could be presented in undergraduate physical chemistry. These notes are the foundation upon which this book is built. My background led me to view chemical kinetics as closely related to transport phenomena. While the relationship of these topics is well known, it is often ignored, except for brief discussions of irreversible thermody namics. In fact, the physics underlying such apparently dissimilar processes as reaction and energy transfer is not so very different. The intermolecular potential is to transport what the potential-energy surface is to reactivity. Instead of beginning the sections devoted to chemical kinetics with a discussion of various theories, I have chosen to treat phenomenology and mechanism first. In this way the essential unity of kinetic arguments, whether applied to gas-phase or solution-phase reaction, can be emphasized. Theories of rate constants and of chemical dynamics are treated last, so that their strengths and weaknesses may be more clearly highlighted. The book is designed for students in their senior year or first year of graduate school. A year of undergraduate physical chemistry is essential preparation. While further exposure to chemical thermodynamics, statistical thermodynamics, or molecular spectroscopy is an asset, it is not necessary.
