Book Description
Functional analysis is not only a tool for unifying mathematical analysis, but it also provides the background for today''s rapid development of the theory of partial differential equations. Using concepts of functional analysis, the field of complex analysis has developed methods (such as the theory of generalized analytic functions) for solving very general classes of partial differential equations. This book is aimed at promoting further interactions of functional analysis, partial differential equations, and complex analysis including its generalizations such as Clifford analysis. New interesting problems in the field of partial differential equations concern, for instance, the Dirichlet problem for hyperbolic equations. Applications to mathematical physics address mainly Maxwell''s equations, crystal optics, dynamical problems for cusped bars, and conservation laws. Sample Chapter(s). Hyperbolic Equations, Waves and the Singularity Theory (858 KB). Contents: Boundary Value Problems and Initial Value Problems for Partial Differential Equations; Applications of Functional-Analytic and Complex Methods to Mathematical Physics; Partial Complex Differential Equations in the Plane; Complex Methods in Higher Dimensions. Readership: Researchers, lecturers and graduate students in the fields of analysis & differential equations, applied mathematics and mathematical physics.

Functional Analytic Methods In Complex Analysis And Applications To Partial Differential Equations

Functional Analytic Methods In Complex Analysis And Applications To Partial Differential Equations PDF Author: A S A Mshimba
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9814548537
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 442

Book Description
These proceedings concentrate on recent results in the following fields of complex analysis: complex methods for solving boundary value problems with piecewise smooth boundary data, complex methods for linear and nonlinear differential equations and systems of second order, and applications of scales of Banach spaces to initial value problems. Some problems in higher dimensions (such as the unification of global and local existence theorems for holomorphic functions and an elementary approach to Clifford analysis) are also discussed.Particular emphasis is placed on Symbolic Computation in Complex Analysis and on the new approaches to teach mathematical analysis based on interactions between complex analysis and partial differential equations.

Complex Methods for Partial Differential Equations

Complex Methods for Partial Differential Equations PDF Author: Heinrich Begehr
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media

Pages : 331

Book Description
This volume is a collection of manscripts mainly originating from talks and lectures given at the Workshop on Recent Trends in Complex Methods for Par tial Differential Equations held from July 6 to 10, 1998 at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey, sponsored by The Scientific and Tech nical Research Council of Turkey and the Middle East Technical University. This workshop is a continuation oftwo workshops from 1988 and 1993 at the In ternational Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy entitled Functional analytic Methods in Complex Analysis and Applications to Partial Differential Equations. Since classical complex analysis of one and several variables has a long tra dition it is of high level. But most of its basic problems are solved nowadays so that within the last few decades it has lost more and more attention. The area of complex and functional analytic methods in partial differential equations, however, is still a growing and flourishing field, in particular as these methods are not only applied. Whithin the framework of holomorphic functions but are also combined with properties of generalized analytic functions. This can be seen by the many books which recently were published in this field and also by the proceedings in this ISAAC series and the ISAAC congresses and workshops.

Generalized Analytic Functions

Generalized Analytic Functions PDF Author: Helmut Florian
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 9781461333340
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 312

Book Description
An intensive development of the theory of generalized analytic functions started when methods of Complex Analysis were combined with methods of Functional Analysis, especially with the concept of distributional solutions to partial differential equations. The power of these interactions is far from being exhausted. In order to promote the further development of the theory of generalized analytic functions and applications of partial differential equations to Mechanics, the Technical University of Graz organized a conference whose Proceedings are contained in the present volume. The contributions on generalized analytic functions (Part One) deal not only with problems in the complex plane (boundary value and initial value problems), but also related problems in higher dimensions are investigated where both several complex variables and the technique of Clifford Analysis are used. Part Two of the Proceedings is devoted to applications to Mechanics. It contains contributions to a variety of general methods such as L p-methods, boundary elements and asymptotic methods, and hemivariational inequalities. A substantial number of the papers of Part Two, however, deals with problems in Ocean Acoustics. The papers of both parts of the Proceedings can be recommended to mathematicians, physicists, and engineers working in the fields mentioned above, as well as for further reading within graduate studies.

Functional Analytic Methods for Partial Differential Equations

Functional Analytic Methods for Partial Differential Equations PDF Author: Hiroki Tanabe

Book Description
Combining both classical and current methods of analysis, this text present discussions on the application of functional analytic methods in partial differential equations. It furnishes a simplified, self-contained proof of Agmon-Douglis-Niremberg's Lp-estimates for boundary value problems, using the theory of singular integrals and the Hilbert transform.

Complex Analytic Methods For Partial Differential Equations: An Introductory Text

Complex Analytic Methods For Partial Differential Equations: An Introductory Text PDF Author: Heinrich G W Begehr
Publisher: World Scientific Publishing Company
ISBN: 9813104686
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 286

Book Description
This is an introductory text for beginners who have a basic knowledge of complex analysis, functional analysis and partial differential equations. Riemann and Riemann-Hilbert boundary value problems are discussed for analytic functions, for inhomogeneous Cauchy-Riemann systems as well as for generalized Beltrami systems. Related problems such as the Poincaré problem, pseudoparabolic systems and complex elliptic second order equations are also considered. Estimates for solutions to linear equations existence and uniqueness results are thus available for related nonlinear problems; the method is explained by constructing entire solutions to nonlinear Beltrami equations. Often problems are discussed just for the unit disc but more general domains, even of multiply connectivity, are involved.

Finite or Infinite Dimensional Complex Analysis and Applications

Finite or Infinite Dimensional Complex Analysis and Applications PDF Author: Le Hung Son
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media

Pages : 379

Book Description
There is almost no field in Mathematics which does not use Mathe matical Analysis. Computer methods in Applied Mathematics, too, are often based on statements and procedures of Mathematical Analysis. An important part of Mathematical Analysis is Complex Analysis because it has many applications in various branches of Mathematics. Since the field of Complex Analysis and its applications is a focal point in the Vietnamese research programme, the Hanoi University of Technology organized an International Conference on Finite or Infinite Dimensional Complex Analysis and Applications which took place in Hanoi from August 8 - 12, 2001. This conference th was the 9 one in a series of conferences which take place alternately in China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam each year. The first one took place th at Pusan University in Korea in 1993. The preceding 8 conference was th held in Shandong in China in August 2000. The 9 conference of the was the first one which took place above mentioned series of conferences in Vietnam. Present trends in Complex Analysis reflected in the present volume are mainly concentrated in the following four research directions: 1 Value distribution theory (including meromorphic funtions, mero morphic mappings, as well as p-adic functions over fields of finite or zero characteristic) and its applications, 2 Holomorphic functions in several (finitely or infinitely many) com plex variables, 3 Clifford Analysis, i.e., complex methods in higher-dimensional real Euclidian spaces, 4 Generalized analytic functions.
