Founded by General James Wilkinson, and laid off by streets October 6, 1786. Centennial celebration October 6, 1886. THE HISTORIC (-Ol.'l-IR srow-1. (On Ann Street, Frankfort, Kentucky.) Presented by Mrs. Jennie C. Morton to Frankfort, the Capital of Kentucky. The following notice was telegraphed to the leading newspapers in Louisville, Ky., at the time (1899) of its unveiling. "Frankfort, Ky., October 8th.--The unveiling of Frankfort's centennial corner (stone) took place on Friday, with elaborate ceremonies and in the presence of 15,000. City schools were dismissed and 1,200 children attended the unveiling, which was under the auspices of the Kentucky State Historical Society. "The unveiling took place under the auspices of the 'Colonial Daughters, ' afterwards consolidated in the State Historical Society. The event took place during the first street fair, in Frankfort, 6th of October, 1899." My Ancestors. BY EMMA HUNTINGTON NASON.
