Progress was hampered in the north and central regions by dryness, prolonged harvesting and the lack of draft power. More complete information will be given next week concerning the Russian fall plan and 1952 wheat situation. The Swedish domestic milling guota for wheat was raised from 60 to 80 per cent and for rye from 50 to 90 per cent effective the first half of September. In Finland the domestic milling quota for rye was placed at 60 per cent effective September 15. Since May 1 the rate has been 5 per cent and prior to that, it was 50 per cent. The European and Oriental market situation is reviewed at some length in the wheat section of this issue. Excerpt from Foreign Crops and Markets, Vol. 25: September 6, 1932 Yields of bread wheat in Morocco exhibited a wide variation in the various regions of the Protectorate but the specific weight of the grain appears to be generally good, Mr. Mallory reports. In Tunisia the durum wheat is said to contain a large proportion of mitadivis (starchy kernels). Reports from the various regions of this country state that after threshing, the grain was found to have suffered from drought at the end of the growing period and both the quantity and quality of the durum was affected. In the North yields were reduced below the early forecasts by reason of damage by rust while in the Central and Southern sections excessive heat during the ripening period.had an adverse effect. Holland purchases were moderate. Belgium reported some business in American, Canadian and Argentine wheats. The quota of foreign wheat in France is now 40 per cent with purchases fairly steady. The domestic wheat market was Quiet. In Sweden the domestic wheat quota was fixed at 50 per cent rye 50 per cent in June, a decrease of 10 per cent for each grain. 30171 the foreign and domestic German markets were stagnant during the week. After June 30 the duty on wheat will be per bushel except for abo bushels of Farm Board wheat still duty free. On June 22 the sp price of domestic wheat at Berlin was compared with a week wious.
