The Class 1 price for Fresno, Calif. Was not available but retail prices dropped from 13 cents per quart to 12 cents. The Class 1 price at San Francisco was $2. 45 per cwt. Compared with a range of $2. 45 2. 62§ in December. Under the State regulation a minimum of 70 cents per pound of butterfat is set for all milk used for fluid purposes in that market. A part of the December supply was paid for on a 75 cents per pound basis, but dealers in January were reported as paying only 70 cents. Excerpt from Fluid Milk and Cream Report: January-June 1959 Prices of milk for fluid use in the United States in early January were generally down from December at both producer and consumer levels, the Crop Reporting Board reported today. Declines from the previous month in fluid milk prices at the producer level were reported in 15 markets, compared with an advance in only 1. Home delivery prices were lower in lit markets and store prices were down in 16. Increases in consumer prices were reported in only 8 markets mainly in half-gallon and gallon containers. Fluid milk prices are not currently determined in a number of markets, but will be reported next month. Buying prices paid by dealers for milk for fluid use in about 160 markets in early January averaged per hundredweight. This was down 6 cents from the previous month and 11 cents from January 1958. The price this month was it cents per hundredweight lower than the 1953-57 January average. Compared with the preceding month, prices declined in 6 of the 9 regions. The decreases varied from 1 cent in each of the East North Central, South Atlantic, Mountain, and Pacific regions to 32 cents in the New England States. An ll-cent drop per hundredweight occurred in the Middle Atlantic area. Dealers' prices were unchanged from December in both the West North Central and West South Central regions. The only increase from last month was reported in the East South Central area, where prices averaged 1+ cents higher. Excerpt from Fluid Milk and Cream Report: January, 1962 Early January home delivery milk prices in 25 major cities averaged cents per single quart. This is unchanged from December but three tenths of a cent above January a year ago. Compared with the 1956-60 average for the month, the average this month was 1-8 cents higher. Single quart price advance from December was 1 cent at Kansas City. Declines of one-half cent per quart at Boston and 1 cent at Philadelphia were reported. Average daily sales of whole milk (preliminary) during November in 65 Federal Order and 6 State marketing areas were about the same as both October 1961 and November 1960. October skim milk sales in 71 markets were 3 percent less than September but were 8 percent more than October 1960. Average daily sales of milk and cream mixtures (half-and-half) in 66 areas during October were 1 percent lower than September and 3 percent under October a year earlier. Sales of fluid cream for October were 1 percent below September and 2 percent less than October a year ago. All fluid product sales (average daily) in 70 markets in October declined 2 percent from September but were unchanged from October 1960. Receipts from producers in 76 Federal Order and 5 State marketing areas, on an average daily basis for November, were 6 percent higher than a year earlier.
