Fivefathers
Author: Les A. Murray
Publisher: Fyfield Books
ISBN:
Category : Poetry
Languages : en
Pages : 212
Book Description
'This book, ' writes Les Murray, 'presents to British and European readers selections from the work of five leading Australian poets of the generation before mine.' They are, with Judith Wright, A.D. Hope and Gwen Harwood - who are happily available in British editions - key figures in 'a Golden Age of Australian poetry which paradoxically coincided with its greatest marginalisation'. Murray's characteristically vivid and emphatic introductory essays to the poets, of whom he is in a real sense himself made, as heir and successor, and his 'essential' selections from their work, are personal and challenging. He evokes the writers' circumstances, the trajectories of their very different work, and he suggests why their accomplishments have been eclipsed in the wider bourse of English-language literary reputations. The Academy has much to answer for, yet the freedom the poets enjoyed was partly a result of their very neglect by institutions. Murray strikes effectively against 'that imperial trap of exclusion', making the available map of our century's poetry larger and much richer.

Book Description
Fifty-Five Fathers: Real Men Share Their Stories and Life Lessons about Their Own Fathers by Jeff Paisley busts the biggest myth about men, men do talk. And they have a lot to say. Men will read these stories to get clarification, validation, and maybe advice. Women will read them to see what is going in men's minds and hearts. Fifty-Five Fathers is your chance to share as fifty-five men from 18 to 80 and various backgrounds reveal hundreds of personal stories about growing up with their dads. Each man's chapter is 2 to 8 pages long. After Jeff's father passed away, he started asking his male friends about their fathers. Those stories were so memorable, funny, and insightful, that he sought out and recorded the interviews of fifty-five men as they each answered ten questions about their fathers. Jeff is a recently retired English and Computer high school teacher with thirty years of classroom experience. Fifty-Five Fathers is his opportunity to bring these real men, their memories, and their fathers to you. "Jeff Paisley has written a fascinating book. A lot of these guys were wacky, terrific, fun, really free-spirited people." Pat McMahon of The Pat McMahon Show, AZTV "This is a great book about sons and their memories/relationships with their fathers. In the short time since I have read it, it has helped me understand what my son may need from me as a father." Clay Johnston "This is quite a book. Parental Alienation, DSM-5, and ICD-11
Author: William Bernet
Publisher: Charles C Thomas Publisher
ISBN: 0398079455
Category : Family & Relationships
Languages : en
Pages : 264
Book Description
Parental alienation is an important phenomenon that mental health professionals should know about and thoroughly understand, especially those who work with children, adolescents, divorced adults, and adults whose parents divorced when they were children. In this book, the authors define parental alienation as a mental condition in which a child - usually one whose parents are engaged in a high- conflict divorce - allies himself or herself strongly with one parent (the preferred parent) and rejects a relationship with the other parent (the alienated parent) without legitimate justification. This process leads to a tragic outcome when the child and the alienated parent, who previously had a loving and mutually satisfying relationship, lose the nurture and joy of that relationship for many years and perhaps for their lifetimes. We estimate that 1 percent of children and adolescents in the U.S. experience parental alienation. When the phenomenon is properly recognized, this condition is preventable and treatable in many instances. The authors of this book believe that parental alienation is not simply a minor aberration in the life of a family, but a serious mental condition. Because of the false belief that the alienated parent is a dangerous or unworthy person, the child loses one of the most important relationships in his or her life. This book contains much information about the validity, reliability, and prevalence of parental alienation. It also includes a comprehensive international bibliography regarding parental alienation with more than 600 citations. In order to bring life to the definitions and the technical writing, several short clinical vignettes have been included. These vignettes are based on actual families and real events, but have been modified to protect the privacy of both the parents and children.

Five Fathers

Publisher: Sarian Royal
ISBN:
Category : Fiction

Pages : 90
Book Description
Sin or piety. Those are the two things I’m choosing between when I walk up those stone steps and into the church. Heaven or hell. Pain or pleasure. But sometimes, pleasure brings more hurt than pain. I’ve learned my lesson the hard way and that’s why I’m doing this, giving up everything I know and love for a whole new life. A life dedicated to something, someone, other than myself. The thing is, sometimes fate has other ideas. Out of all the churches in town, I picked this one. This building with its vaulted ceilings and stained glass and all its secrets. This building that houses them. My five worst sins. My five most awesome pleasures. ***FIVE FATHERS is a full-length stand-alone reverse harem novel from debut author Kate Morgan. It includes five sexy priests, one lucky woman, and lots and lots of steamy scenes. This book is naughty, but in the best way possible. Expect a happy ending but a suspenseful ride on the way there! p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 13.0px Helvetica} p.p2 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 13.0px Helvetica; min-height: 16.0px}

Gnomon of the New Testament, Volume 5
Author: John A. Bengel
Publisher: Wipf and Stock Publishers
ISBN: 1725236680
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 490
Book Description
Bengel's work on the New Testament is a valuable resource for modern students of the Scriptures. In 1734, he published a carefully prepared Greek text of the New Testament with an "Apparatus criticus," which formed the point of departure for modern New Testament textual criticism. His famous canon was: "The more difficult reading is to be preferred." This critical work was followed by an exegetical one, Gnomon Novi Testamenti (Tubingen, 1742). As a brief and suggestive commentary on the New Testament, the Gnomon is still of considerable use today. Bengel's chief principle of interpretation, briefly stated, is to read nothing into the Scriptures, but to draw everything from them, and suffer nothing to remain hidden that is really in them. His Gnomon exerted considerable influence on exegesis in Germany, and John Wesley translated most of its notes and incorporated them into his Annotatory Notes upon the New Testament (London, 1755). A. Hauck, Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge. This volume is 5 of a 5 volume set. Each volume is sold separately.
