Stability and Ductility of Steel Structures 2019

Stability and Ductility of Steel Structures 2019 PDF Author: František Wald
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1000752240
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 1373

Book Description
For more than forty years the series of International Colloquia on Stability and Ductility of Steel Structures has been supported by the Structural Stability Research Council (SSRC). Its objective is to present the latest results in theoretical, numerical and experimental research in the area of stability and ductility of steel and steel-concrete composite structures. In Stability and Ductility of Steel Structures 2019, the focus is on new concepts and procedures concerning the analysis and design of steel structures and on the background, development and application of rules and recommendations either appearing in recently published Codes or Specifications and in emerging versions, all in anticipation of the new edition of Eurocodes. The series of International Colloquia on Stability and Ductility of Steel Structures started in Paris in 1972, the last five being held in: Timisoara, Romania (1999), Budapest, Hungary (2002), Lisbon, Portugal (2006), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2010) and Timisoara, Romania (2016). The 2019 edition of SDSS is organized by the Czech Technical University in Prague.

Finite Element Analysis of Stress Concentration in Tubular T-joints

Finite Element Analysis of Stress Concentration in Tubular T-joints PDF Author:
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 129

Book Description
The report describes the analytical investigation of stressdistribution in tubular T-joint for axial and in-plane bendingload cases. The results of the study on distribution of surfacestresses along the brace-chord intersection, including through-thickness variation and hot spot stress concentration factors arepresented and compared with those reported in the literature. The effect of shallow weld toe cracks (both hair-line crack andcrack depth equal to half the chord wall thickness) on stressredistribution are discussed.

Tubular Structures XVI

Tubular Structures XVI PDF Author: Amin Heidarpour
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1351210823
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 1352

Book Description
Tubular Structures XVI contains the latest scientific and engineering developments in the field of tubular steel structures, as presented at the 16th International Symposium on Tubular Structures (ISTS16, Melbourne, Australia, 4-6 December 2017). The International Symposium on Tubular Structures (ISTS) has a long-standing reputation for being the principal showcase for manufactured tubing and the prime international forum for presentation and discussion of research, developments and applications in this field. Various key and emerging subjects in the field of hollow structural sections are covered, such as: special applications and case studies, static and fatigue behaviour of connections/joints, concrete-filled and composite tubular members and offshore structures, earthquake and dynamic resistance, specification and standard developments, material properties and section forming, stainless and high-strength steel structures, fire, impact and blast response. Research and development issues presented in this topical book are applicable to buildings, bridges, offshore structures, cranes, trusses and towers. Tubular Structures XVI is thus a pertinent reference source for architects, civil and mechanical engineers, designers, steel fabricators and contractors, manufacturers of hollow sections or related construction products, trade associations involved with tubing, owners or developers of tubular structures, steel specification committees, academics and research students all around the world.

Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1119532523
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 816

Book Description
The bible of stress concentration factors—updated to reflect today's advances in stress analysis This book establishes and maintains a system of data classification for all the applications of stress and strain analysis, and expedites their synthesis into CAD applications. Filled with all of the latest developments in stress and strain analysis, this Fourth Edition presents stress concentration factors both graphically and with formulas, and the illustrated index allows readers to identify structures and shapes of interest based on the geometry and loading of the location of a stress concentration factor. Peterson's Stress Concentration Factors, Fourth Edition includes a thorough introduction of the theory and methods for static and fatigue design, quantification of stress and strain, research on stress concentration factors for weld joints and composite materials, and a new introduction to the systematic stress analysis approach using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). From notches and grooves to shoulder fillets and holes, readers will learn everything they need to know about stress concentration in one single volume. Peterson's is the practitioner's go-to stress concentration factors reference Includes completely revised introductory chapters on fundamentals of stress analysis; miscellaneous design elements; finite element analysis (FEA) for stress analysis Features new research on stress concentration factors related to weld joints and composite materials Takes a deep dive into the theory and methods for material characterization, quantification and analysis methods of stress and strain, and static and fatigue design Peterson's Stress Concentration Factors is an excellent book for all mechanical, civil, and structural engineers, and for all engineering students and researchers.

Mesh-Free and Finite Element-Based Methods for Structural Mechanics Applications

Mesh-Free and Finite Element-Based Methods for Structural Mechanics Applications PDF Author: Nicholas Fantuzzi
Publisher: MDPI
ISBN: 3036501363
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 220

Book Description
The problem of solving complex engineering problems has always been a major topic in all industrial fields, such as aerospace, civil and mechanical engineering. The use of numerical methods has increased exponentially in the last few years, due to modern computers in the field of structural mechanics. Moreover, a wide range of numerical methods have been presented in the literature for solving such problems. Structural mechanics problems are dealt with using partial differential systems of equations that might be solved by following the two main classes of methods: Domain-decomposition methods or the so-called finite element methods and mesh-free methods where no decomposition is carried out. Both methodologies discretize a partial differential system into a set of algebraic equations that can be easily solved by computer implementation. The aim of the present Special Issue is to present a collection of recent works on these themes and a comparison of the novel advancements of both worlds in structural mechanics applications.
