Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 153

Book Description
This book introduces modern safety management in rail transport, focusing on the challenges resulting from the digital economy. It details how the cybersecurity of railway technical systems and risk can be managed. The rail transport sector is increased integrated into the digital economy. Ensuing the safety of technical systems and managing the rail system as a whole are key challenges for rail transport designers, managers, users and other stakeholders. Developing of rail transport based on the interoperability of different systems requires both searching for modern solutions and ensuring a high level of standardization of processes. In the context of the widespread digitalization of railway systems, new hazards arise that can lead to undesirable events. This book examines these issues. The book will be of interest to rail professionals, and researchers into transport systems and reliability.

ISBN: 3030963802
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 1646

Book Description
The book presents latest developments in the field of high-speed railway, Hyperloop transportation technologies and Maglev system. In recent years, railway transport has received a powerful impetus in its development. With the advent of the 4th Industrial revolution, the transport sector is moving towards full digitalization. TransSiberia is a platform where both the rail industry and the communications industry can meet and converge. The book contains papers prepared by experts from both sectors. This is primarily research in the field of the ICT technologies, which will be used for the future railway system. The results of studies on the design of intelligent autonomous transport systems and the operation of high-speed railways in the harsh weather conditions of Siberia are presented in detail. The book presents the state of the art in smart grid technology for railway power systems. This will contribute to decarbonization of the railway. The presented technical innovations in railway science and engineering will help scientists and engineers create a new generation of trains running on alternative fuels and capable of functioning without interruptions in any climatic conditions.

Determination of the Features and Basic Principles of Finance of Railway Transport in Conditions of Energy Conservation

Determination of the Features and Basic Principles of Finance of Railway Transport in Conditions of Energy Conservation PDF Author: Yuliia Kovalchuk

Pages : 6

Book Description
The object of research is the finance of the railway industry in terms of energy conservation. Since the role of railway transport in social production is unquestionably significant, because until a certain product is delivered to the consumer, it is not completely manufactured, so to speak, and can't be used by the consumer. An important role in the work of railway transport is played by its finances, without which the work of enterprises is impossible, especially in conditions of using energy-saving technologies. It is shown that the financial management of the transport industry in the context of energy conservation at the present stage of development of the railway industry and the country's economy is one of the main areas of management activity. Financial management of transport enterprises is the process of coordinating all the determining components of the financial system to achieve the stable operation of transport enterprises and, no less important, its development. The content of such concepts as «financial management» and «finance of the railway industry enterprise» has been clarified based on a synthesis of various modern scientific approaches to the study of these categories and the identification of the main features for adaptation to energy saving conditions. So, let's consider the finances of the railway transport company as the monetary system of the specified economic entity, that is, the totality of payments, receipts, distribution and use of funds in the process of its production and economic activity. Effective financial management of a railway company is an opportunity for organizational, financial and economic sustainability of a railway company in the context of energy conservation. At the same time, losses from compliance with the above conditions are minimized, thereby maximizing the economic added value of the enterprise during its operation and development. Consequently, the financial management of the transport industry company works by saving energy resources; it should use a management model that provides solutions to the interrelated tasks that arise with this method of managing.

Railway Management and Engineering

Railway Management and Engineering PDF Author: Professor V A Profillidis
Publisher: Ashgate Publishing, Ltd.
ISBN: 1472407784
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 553

Book Description
In a rapidly changing world, with increasing competition in all sectors of transportation, railways are in a period of restructuring their management and technology. New methods of organization are introduced, commercial and tariff policies change radically, a more entrepreneurial spirit is required. At the same time, new high-speed tracks are being constructed and old tracks are renewed, high-comfort rolling stock vehicles are being introduced, logistics and combined transport are being developed. Awareness of environmental issues and the search for greater safety give a new role to the railways within the transportation system. Meanwhile, methods of analysis have significantly evolved, principally due to computer applications and new ways of thinking and approaching old problems. Thus, it becomes necessary to come up with a new scientific approach to tackle management and engineering aspects of railways, to understand in-depth the origins and inter-relationships of the various situations and phenomena and to suggest the appropriate methods and solutions to solve the various emerging problems. This book aims to cover the need for a new scientific approach for railways. It is intended to be of use to railway managers, economists and engineers, consulting economists and engineers, students of schools of engineering, transportation, economics, and management. The book is divided into three parts, which deal succes-sively with management, track, and rolling stock, environment and safety. Each chapter of the book contains the necessary theoretical analysis of the phenomena studied, the recommended solutions, applications, charts and design of the specific railway component. In this way, both the requirement for a theoretical analysis is met, and the need of the railway manager and engineer for tables, nomographs, regulations, etc. is satisfied. Railways in Europe have separated activities of infrastructure from those of operation. In other parts of the world, however, railways remain unified. The book addresses both situations (separated and unified railways). Railways present great differences in their technologies. Something may be valid for one such technology, but not for another. To overcome this problem, regulations of the International Union of Railways (UIC) as well as European Standardization (CEN) and European Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSIs) have been used to the greatest extent possible. Whenever a specific technology or method is presented, the limits of its application are clearly emphasized.
