Inorganic Chemistry

Inorganic Chemistry PDF Author: Rory Reid
Publisher: Scientific e-Resources
ISBN: 1839471980
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 344

Book Description
Inorganic chemistry deals with the synthesis and behavior of inorganic and organometallic compounds. This field covers all chemical compounds except the myriad organic compounds which are the subjects of organic chemistry. The distinction between the two disciplines is far from absolute, as there is much overlap in the subdiscipline of organometallic chemistry. Today our understanding of chemical bonding, molecular reactivities, and various other fundamental chemical problems rests heavily on our knowledge of the detailed behaviour of electrons in atoms and molecules. This book describes in detail some of the basic principles, methods and results of quantum chemistry that lead to our understanding of electron behaviour. The basic aspects of inorganic chemistry are presented significantly in this book. Many applications and practical problems are described. The order of the techniques included is conventional and would be liked by students. The chapters have been arranged in a conventional way, as it may be easy for students to pass from one to another chapter with continuity.

Progress in Experimental and Theoretical Studies of Clusters

Progress in Experimental and Theoretical Studies of Clusters PDF Author: Tamotsu Kondow
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9812775676
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 293

Book Description
The cluster which is an ensemble of two thousands of atoms or molecules, has emerged as a completely new class of materials at the frontier of materials science. The frontier of cluster science extends so rapidly that the map of the science is renewed day by day. In order to provide basic knowledge and recent information on this growing field, 14 world-renowned scientists who are actively involved experimentally and theoretically in cluster science have written this book, which is concise, comprehensive, suitable for students at both the undergraduate and the graduate level, as well as people who work outside cluster science. Contents: Survey of Structure, Energetics and Dynamics of Clusters (R S Berry & R D Levine); Molecular and Ionic Cluster Spectroscopy (J M Lisy); Physical and Chemical Properties of Metal Clusters in the Gas Phase and on Solid Surfaces (A Terasaki); Femtosecond Spectroscopy on Metal Clusters (a Vajda et al.); Core Level Excitation of Clusters (E Rhl); Laboratory Experiments on Single Levitated Aerosol Particles (T Leisner); Cluster Formation from Liquid Phase (F Mafun(r)). Readership: Researchers in atomic physics, molecular physics and physical chemistry."

Conceptual Perspectives in Quantum Chemistry

Conceptual Perspectives in Quantum Chemistry PDF Author: Jean-Louis Calais
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9401155720
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 562

Book Description
The rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full Ecclesiastes What is quantum chemistry? The straightforward answer is that it is what quan tum chemists do. But it must be admitted, that in contrast to physicists and chemists, "quantum chemists" seem to be a rather ill-defined category of scientists. Quantum chemists are more or less physicists (basically theoreticians), more or less chemists, and by large, computationists. But first and foremost, we, quantum chemists; are conscious beings. We may safely guess that quantum chemistry was one of the first areas in the natural sciences to lie on the boundaries of many disciplines. We may certainly claim that quantum chemists were the first to use computers for really large scale calculations. The scope of the problems which quantum chemistry wishes to answer and which, by its unique nature, only quantum chemistry can answer is growing daily. Retrospectively we may guess that many of those problems meet a daily need, or are say, technical in some sense. The rest are fundamental or conceptual. The daily life of most quantum chemists is usually filled with grasping the more or less technical problems. But it is at least as important to devote some time to the other kind of problems whose solution will open up new perspectives for both quantum chemistry itself and for the natural sciences in general.

Molecular Complexes in Earth's Planetary, Cometary and Interstellar Atmospheres

Molecular Complexes in Earth's Planetary, Cometary and Interstellar Atmospheres PDF Author: Andrei A. Vigasin
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9789810232115
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 296

Book Description
This book introduces systematically the concept of weakly-bound complexes into the broad field of atmospheric sciences. To fill up the gap between our rapidly expanding knowledge of the individual properties of Van der Waals and hydrogen-bonded molecules, and our understanding of their role in the atmospheric processes, an ensemble of related topics are covered by a team of expert co-authors. The general properties of the weakly bound molecular complexes (or ?clusters?) are discussed, as well as their distribution in the planetary atmospheres. Collision-induced and dimeric absorption and emission are considered in the context of atmospheric spectroscopy. The advanced experimental techniques which enable us to study the spectroscopic features of molecular complexes in the gas phase, or which are adsorbed, are reviewed. The role of molecular complexes in the cometary atmosphere, the Earth mesosphere, and the atmospheres of the giant planets and some of their satellites are also discussed in detail.
