N. Parker Willis, a famous journalist of the nineteenth century draws on his experiences to pen the historical novel "Famous Persons and Places". Willis, one time the highest paid writer in America, was a contemporary of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Washington Irving, and Charles Dickens. He was a supporter, defender, and friend of Edgar Allan Poe. He first printed Poe's "The Raven" in the January 29, 1845 issue of the New York Evening Mirror, where he was editor, which helped make Poe famous.
