The purpose of this study was to discover the value of aligning a Family and Consumer Science (FCS) curriculum with national standards and how the practical application of mathematics concepts in FCS can reinforce student achievement in mathematics. Numerous research documents were utilized in the areas of national standards and competencies, existing curriculum, best practices, and teaching of mathematics.
