CATALOGUE OF THE BUTTERFLIES K

CATALOGUE OF THE BUTTERFLIES K PDF Author: W. S. Blatchley
Publisher: Forgotten Books
ISBN: 9781333483784
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 52

Book Description
Excerpt from A Catalogue of the Butterflies Known to Occur in Indiana, 1892 To make the catalogue as valuable as possible to future collectors, not only has the known range of each species within the State been given, but also its favorite place of resort and the season at which it is most abundant, together with any other information regarding variation or habits which it was thought would be of interest. Prof. G. H. French in his manual of The Butter ies of the Eastern United States, has treated of the habits of the larvae of most of the species, but has said but little about the habits of the mature insects. To the student of Indiana butter ies this catalogue will perhaps serve as an accessory to French's work, and hence little or nothing is said of the larvae. The nomenclature adopted is that of Edward's Revised Catalogue of the Diurnal Lepidoptera of America North of Mexico, published in the Transactions of the American Entomological Society for 1884. The number in parenthesis before each name is that of the species in the catalogue cited. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
