Book Description
This facsimile is of a letter dated 9 November 1803, addressed to the Governor of Madalena and thanking him for his attentions to the British Fleet while anchored in Madalena. The paper has an 'Istituto Storico Italiano' watermark. Accompanying the letter is a facsimile of the original envelope. The original letter was in the Peter Tamm Collection in 2005. This item bears the earlier collection number (accession number) M4420, and is also accompanied by an envelope addressed to Vice Admiral Sir Harry H. Rawson from 'G.B.M,' and a slip of paper explaining that the item was forwarded to the Vice Admiral by the admiral of the Adriatic squadron when the British squadron was on a state visit to Italian ports, signed G. Rawson.
