Contexte : Dès le plus jeune âge, nos enfants sont susceptibles d'utiliser des écrans. Une exposition précoce ou excessive peut avoir des conséquences néfastes sur la santé de l'enfant. L'objectif principal de cette étude était de déterminer le temps passé devant les écrans chez de jeunes enfants particulièrement vulnérables que sont les enfants nés très prématurément. Méthodes : Il s'agissait d'une étude descriptive quantitative prospective réalisée en 2018 dans les services de néonatalogie du CH de Arras, St Vincent de Paul à Lille et CH de Roubaix. Les enfants inclus étaient âgés de 18 à 42 mois, nés strictement avant 33 semaines d'aménorrhée, consultant en néonatalogie pour leur suivi, dont les parents acceptaient de remplir un questionnaire anonymement. Notre critère de jugement principal était la durée d'exposition aux écrans par 24 heures. L'analyse statistique était faite sur logiciel Excel et Stata. Les enfants ont été répartis en 3 groupes d'exposition aux écrans selon le temps d'écrans journaliers : exposition faible, moyenne ou importante. Le test de Chi2 a été utilisé pour la comparaison de ces 3 groupes. Résultats : Nous avons retrouvé, chez 77 enfants inclus dans l'étude, un temps d'écrans de 76 minutes/ jour en moyenne, et 45 minutes en médiane. L'écran consommé est principalement la télévision (dessins animés), le plus souvent accompagné. Soixante et un % des enfants regardent tous les jours la télévision, en moyenne 70 minutes. La consommation d'écrans a lieu surtout le matin au réveil et l'après-midi et est plus élevée chez des enfants ayant des frères et sœurs âgés de 6 à 11 ans. Elle est plus importante quand, dans la famille, la télévision est allumée pour les tâches ménagères, et quand les parents regardent avec les enfants des émissions de téléréalité ou les actualités. Nous n'avons pas mis en évidence de lien entre les caractéristiques sociodémographiques de la famille et la consommation d'écrans par les enfants prématurés. Conclusion : L'exposition aux écrans est non négligeable et montre sur notre échantillon, l'écart entre les recommandations pédiatriques (pas d'écran avant 3 ans) et les pratiques quotidiennes habituelles, alors que ces enfants semblent bien bénéficier de contacts réguliers avec des professionnels de santé pour leur suivi.
