There is, then, a personal as well as an institutional value to a work like this, and it has been the object of the Committee to prepare a book which shall contain the spirit and truth of the proceedings of the Society of the Cincinnati in the State of New Jersey from its birth to the present day, freed from such matter as would by repetition and relative unimportance impede the study of the Society's doings during that period.
