I'm running late and being late for this appointment could mean ending up as a Common. I breathe a sigh of relief when I spot the tall hospital building and head toward it for my evaluation. I'm shocked at the sight of so many male doctors. One of the older doctors takes the seat between my thighs, and the other men stand behind him and peer intently over his shoulder. I shiver with humiliation, but I clench my jaw, reminding myself that I have to obey. Compliance with what comes next, despite being dreadful and humiliating, is necessary to increase my chances of being chosen as Prime and paired with a male. According to Dominion law, this stranger will control my fate for the rest of my life and can do with me whatever he wants.
