The life and emigration of Samuel James (1805-1866), his wife Anna Maria Foxwell James (1806-1879) and their children from Cornwall, England to America. Samuel James, a successful farmer, left Lizard area of Cornwall in 1843. He took his family in covered wagons on the "Oregon Trail". They reached the Pacific coast in the present state of Washington in 1850.
