Book Description
LA GRANDE VARIABILITE DE L'INTENSITE ET DES CARACTERISTIQUES STRUCTURALES DES PRECIPITATIONS EST L'UNE DES DIFFICULTES MAJEURES RENCONTREES DANS LA PARAMETRISATION DES CHAMPS DE PLUIE. NOTAMMENT LES DISTRIBUTIONS DE TAILLES DES CELLULES DE PLUIE SONT ENCORE TRES MAL CONNUES. L'OBJET PRINCIPAL DE LA PRESENTE ETUDE EST DECRIRE ET DISCUTER LA DISTRIBUTION STATISTIQUE DE LA TAILLE DES CELLULES DE PLUIE COMPOSANT LES SYSTEMES DE PRECIPITATIONS TROPICAUX ET DES LATITUDES MOYENNES A PARTIR D'UNE BASE DES DONNEES RADAR NUMERISEES, PUIS D'UTILISER LES RESULTATS POUR UNE ESTIMATION DE PLUIE A L'AIDE D'UNE METHODE A SEUIL. POUR TRAITER LES IMAGES RADAR, UN LOGICIEL DE DETERMINATION DES CONTOURS DES CELLULES POUR DIFFERENTS TAUX DE PLUIE A ETE DEVELOPPE. ON MONTRE QUE LA DISTRIBUTION DU NOMBRE DE CELLULES EN FONCTION DE LA TAILLE POUR DIFFERENTS SEUILS DE TAUX DE PLUIE, PEUT ETRE REPRESENTEE PAR UNE RELATION DE FORME EXPONENTIELLE. ON TROUVE QUE LA PENTE DES DISTRIBUTIONS EST PEU DEPENDANTE DU SEUIL CONSIDERE. ON MONTRE QUE LA TAILLE MOYENNE DES CELLULES EST PEU DEPENDANTE DU SEUIL D'INTENSITE. ON OBSERVE AUSSI QUE 90% DES CELLULES ONT UN DIAMETRE INFERIEUR A 5 KM. ENFIN ON PRESENTE UNE APPROCHE ORIGINALE DE L'ESTIMATION DE L'INTENSITE MOYENNE DES PLUIES R SUR UNE AIRE A PARTIR DE L'OBSERVATION DE LA DISTRIBUTION DE TAILLES DES CELLULES DE PLUIE DANS L'AIRE D'OBSERVATION CONSIDEREE. ON MONTRE EN EFFET QU'IL EXISTE UNE RELATION ANALYTIQUE SIMPLE ENTRE R ET LES PARAMETRES DE LA DISTRIBUTION DE TAILLE DES CELLULES. ON SUGGERE QUE CETTE RELATION PEUT CONDUIRE A UNE METHODE UTILISABLE POUR ESTIMER LES PRECIPITATIONS DEPUIS UNE PLATE-FORME SPATIALE

Groundwater Modelling in Arid and Semi-Arid Areas

Groundwater Modelling in Arid and Semi-Arid Areas PDF Author: Howard S. Wheater
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1139489720
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages :

Book Description
Arid and semi-arid regions face major challenges in the management of scarce freshwater resources under pressures of population, economic development, climate change, pollution and over-abstraction. Groundwater is commonly the most important water resource in these areas. Groundwater models are widely used globally to understand groundwater systems and to guide decisions on management. However, the hydrology of arid and semi-arid areas is very different from that of humid regions, and there is little guidance on the special challenges of groundwater modelling for these areas. This book brings together the experience of internationally leading experts to fill a gap in the scientific and technical literature. It introduces state-of-the-art methods for modelling groundwater resources, illustrated with a wide-ranging set of illustrative examples from around the world. The book is valuable for researchers, practitioners in developed and developing countries, and graduate students in hydrology, hydrogeology, water resources management, environmental engineering and geography.

Predicting Rainfall Erosion Losses

Predicting Rainfall Erosion Losses PDF Author: Walter H. Wischmeier
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Agricultural conservation
Languages : en
Pages : 70

Book Description
The Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) enables planners to predict the average rate of soil erosion for each feasible alternative combination of crop system and management practices in association with a specified soil type, rainfall pattern, and topography. When these predicted losses are compared with given soil loss tolerances, they provide specific guidelines for effecting erosion control within specified limits. The equation groups the numerous interrelated physical and management parameters that influence erosion rate under six major factors whose site-specific values can be expressed numerically. A half century of erosion research in many States has supplied information from which at least approximate values of the USLE factors can be obtained for specified farm fields or other small erosion prone areas throughout the United States. Tables and charts presented in this handbook make this information readily available for field use. Significant limitations in the available data are identified.

Book Description
This volume contains 44 papers and 2 abstracts from a international conference on African small ruminants research and development. eleven papers and 1 abstract deal with the importance of small ruminant production systems and economics. Another 11 describe and analyse feed resources and feeding systems and there are 6 papers on reproductive problems and their solutions. Seven papers and 1 abstract review the prevalent health problems under various management systems and present the solutions to these production constraints. The last 9 papers deal with breeds, breeding systems and breed improvement.

Book Description
Fall in love with the addictive, suspenseful love story between a teenage girl and a vampire with the book that sparked a "literary phenomenon" and redefined romance for a generation (New York Times). Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife -- between desire and danger. Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite. It's here! #1 bestselling author Stephenie Meyer makes a triumphant return to the world of Twilight with the highly anticipated companion, Midnight Sun: the iconic love story of Bella and Edward told from the vampire's point of view. "People do not want to just read Meyer's books; they want to climb inside them and live there." -- Time "A literary phenomenon." -- The New York Times
