Book Description
LES PROTEINES SONT DES MOLECULES INDISPENSABLES AU FONCTIONNEMENT DES CELLULES VIVANTES. COMME LEUR FONCTION DEPEND SURTOUT DE LEUR STRUCTURE TRIDIMENSIONNELLE, LA CONNAISSANCE DE CES STRUCTURES SEULES, ET MIEUX EN INTERACTION AVEC LES LIGANDS BIOLOGIQUES, PERMET DE MIEUX COMPRENDRE LEUR ACTIVITE BIOLOGIQUE. CE MANUSCRIT EST CONSACRE A L'ETUDE STRUCTURALE PAR RMN DE TROIS SYSTEMES BIOLOGIQUES DIFFERENTS. LE PREMIER SYSTEME ETUDIE EST UN ACTIVATEUR TRANSCRIPTIONNEL DU CHAMPIGNON ASPERGILLUS NIDULANS, ALCR. LE DOMAINE DE LIAISON A L'ADN, ALCR(1-60), PRESENTE DE NOMBREUSES PARTICULARITES. LA STRUCTURE A HAUTE RESOLUTION A ETE DETERMINEE AU COURS DE CETTE THESE, PAR RMN MULTIDIMENSIONNELLE ET MODELISATION MOLECULAIRE. CETTE STRUCTURE EST CARACTERISEE PAR LA PRESENCE DE 4 HELICES ALPHA. PUIS UNE STRUCTURE BIEN RESOLUE D'UN COMPLEXE ENTRE ALCR ET UNE CIBLE NUCLEOTIDIQUE A ETE OBTENUE. CETTE STRUCTURE A PERMIS DE PROPOSER DES EXPLICATIONS SATISFAISANTES AUX PARTICULARITES FONCTIONNELLES D'ALCR. AFIN DE MIEUX CARACTERISER CETTE STRUCTURE. DE NOMBREUSES EXPERIENCES RMN ONT ETE MENEES, NOTAMMENT L'ETUDE DE L'ORIENTATION SPONTANEE DU COMPLEXE DANS LE CHAMP MAGNETIQUE. LE DEUXIEME SYSTEME ETUDIE EST CELUI DE R1B, UN ELEMENT REPETE DE LA GLUTAMYL-PROLYL-ARNT-SYNTHETASE DU MAMMIFERE CRICETULLUS GRISEUS (51 ACIDES AMINES). LA STRUCTURE EST COMPOSEE DE DEUX HELICES DISPOSEES EN ROULEAU SUPERENROULE ANTIPARALLELE, DONT UNE BOUCLE OMEGA VERROUILLE L'EXTREMITE. L'ANALYSE DE CETTE STRUCTURE A PERMIS D'ASSIGNER A R1B UNE FONCTION GENERALE DE LIAISON AUX ARNS. LE TROISIEME SYSTEME ETUDIE CONCERNE LA CAPSICEINE, UNE ELICITINE SECRETEE PAR LE CHAMPIGNON PHYTOPHTHORA CAPSICII. NOUS AVONS PU DANS CE MANUSCRIT DETERMINER LA STRUCTURE TRIDIMENSIONNELLE DU COMPLEXE CAPSICEINE-ERGOSTEROL. CETTE STRUCTURE MONTRE QUE LE STEROL VIENT SE LOGER DANS UNE CAVITE HYDROPHOBE SITUEE AU CUR DE LA PROTEINE.

From Chemical Philosophy to Theoretical Chemistry

From Chemical Philosophy to Theoretical Chemistry PDF Author: Mary Jo Nye
Publisher: Univ of California Press
ISBN: 0520913566
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 357

Book Description
How did chemistry and physics acquire their separate identities, and are they on their way to losing them again? Mary Jo Nye has written a graceful account of the historical demarcation of chemistry from physics and subsequent reconvergences of the two, from Lavoisier and Dalton in the late eighteenth century to Robinson, Ingold, and Pauling in the mid-twentieth century. Using the notion of a disciplinary "identity" analogous to ethnic or national identity, Nye develops a theory of the nature of disciplinary structure and change. She discusses the distinctive character of chemical language and theories and the role of national styles and traditions in building a scientific discipline. Anyone interested in the history of scientific thought will enjoy pondering with her the question of whether chemists of the mid-twentieth century suspected chemical explanation had been reduced to physical laws, just as Newtonian mechanical philosophers had envisioned in the eighteenth century.

French Philosophy of Technology

French Philosophy of Technology PDF Author: Sacha Loeve
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319895184
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 400

Book Description
Offering an overall insight into the French tradition of philosophy of technology, this volume is meant to make French-speaking contributions more accessible to the international philosophical community. The first section, “Negotiating a Cultural Heritage,” presents a number of leading 20th century philosophical figures (from Bergson and Canguilhem to Simondon, Dagognet or Ellul) and intellectual movements (from Personalism to French Cybernetics and political ecology) that help shape philosophy of technology in the Francophone area, and feed into contemporary debates (ecology of technology, politics of technology, game studies). The second section, “Coining and Reconfiguring Technoscience,” traces the genealogy of this controversial concept and discusses its meanings and relevance. A third section, “Revisiting Anthropological Categories,” focuses on the relationships of technology with the natural and the human worlds from various perspectives that include anthropotechnology, Anthropocene, technological and vital norms and temporalities. The final section, “Innovating in Ethics, Design and Aesthetics,” brings together contributions that draw on various French traditions to afford fresh insights on ethics of technology, philosophy of design, techno-aesthetics and digital studies. The contributions in this volume are vivid and rich in original approaches that can spur exchanges and debates with other philosophical traditions.

Jean-Baptiste Say and Political Economy

Jean-Baptiste Say and Political Economy PDF Author: Jean-Baptiste Say
Publisher: Taylor & Francis
ISBN: 1317912292
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 290

Book Description
Jean-Baptiste Say (1767–1832) was one of the first great economists to have laid down the foundations of economic science. Author of the famous Treatise on Political Economy in 1803, which was revised and re-edited on several occasions, he published numerous other works including a voluminous Complete Course in Practical Political Economy in 1828–9. He also taught political economy successively from 1815 until his death in three Parisian establishments: the Athénée, the Conservatory of Arts and Trades, and the Collège de France. The texts in which Say exposes his approach to political economy have not been available in the English language until now except for the fourth edition of the ‘Preliminary Discourse’ which serves as an introduction to the Treatise. This book presents a translation which renders his works accessible to the English speaking world. For the first time, English readers will be able to become directly immersed in Say’s principal texts, where he develops his conception of political economy. Jean-Baptiste Say and Political Economy proposes a translation of a selection of eleven of Say’s texts. The first three are versions of the ‘Preliminary Discourse’ from the Treatise’s editions of 1803, 1814 and 1826 with the variations of the editions of 1817, 1819 and 1841. The following four texts are the opening discourses pronounced at the Conservatory in 1820 and 1828 and the Collège de France in 1831 and 1832. The eighth text is the ‘General Considerations’ which open the Complete Course in Practical Political Economy of 1828, with the variations of the 1840 re-edition. The final three texts are those Say devotes to ‘the progress of political economy’ in what is akin to a history of economic thought. This volume is of great importance to economic historians and people studying Jean-Baptiste Say, as well as those who are interested in economic theory and philosophy and political economy.

Catenanes, Rotaxanes, and Knots

Catenanes, Rotaxanes, and Knots PDF Author: Gottfried Schill
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 1483275663
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 205

Book Description
Organic Chemistry, Volume 22: Catenanes, Rotaxanes, and Knots provides information pertinent to the synthesis of catenanes and rotaxanes. This book discusses the manner of interaction between the molecular subunits in catenanes in the solid, liquid, and gaseous states. Organized into 19 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the idea of synthesizing molecules composed of separate entities that are mechanically connected to one another. This text then examines the stereochemistry and the other physical and chemical properties related to the mechanical connections in these compounds. Other chapters consider the determination of the absolute configuration of catenanes by extension of the Cahn–Ingold–Prelog rules. This book discusses as well the bond that mechanically connects the catenated rings. The final chapter deals with the model studies of the synthesis of knots, double wound rotaxanes, and higher linear catenanes. This book is a valuable resource for chemists, students, and research workers.
