L'optimisation du rendement des moteurs à allumage commandé et la reformulation des carburants (essence et diesel) ayant pour but la réduction des émissions nocives rendent indispensable une représentation détaillée des mécanismes de combustion basée sur l'écriture de processus élémentaires. Néanmoins, si le mécanisme d'oxydation primaire des alcanes est maintenant relativement bien compris, les réactions des composés insaturés et aromatiques ne sont pas encore bien définies. Un travail expérimental à été réalisé en tube à onde de choc et a permis d'étudier la réaction globale d'oxydation à haute température (> 1100 K) et haute pression (> 6 bar) du 1- butyne, du 2-butyne, du 1-butène, et des otho-, para et méta-xylènes. Des mécanismes détaillés des réactions du 1-butyne, du 2-butyne et du 1-butène ont été développés et validés en comparant les résultats de simulations aux résultats expérimentaux obtenus pour les délais d'auto-inflammation. Dans les conditions de cette étude, les trois xylènes ont la même réactivité. Ce résultat est qualitativement en accord avec le fait que les xylènes ont des constantes de vitesse très proches pour les décompositions unimoléculaires formant des atomes d'hydrogène et des radicaux méthylbenzyles, qui sont des réactions déterminantes pour les délais d'auto-inflammation.
