CE TRAVAIL SE SITUE DANS LE DOMAINE DE L'IMPACT DES MOLECULES XENOBIOTIQUES CHLORES SUR LES BIOMASSES MICROBIENNES ADAPTEES A LEUR BIODEGRADATION. LORSQUE NOUS PRENONS EN CONSIDERATION L'ACTIVITE INITIALE DE BIODEGRADATION, LES CONSTANTES DE VITESSE ET D'EQUILIBRE SONT PARFAITEMENT DETERMINEES PAR DES MODELES BASEES EXCLUSIVEMENT SUR LE PARAMETRE CONCENTRATION EN SUBSTRAT. A LA SUITE DE CETTE PHASE INITIALE, LE PROCESSUS DE LA BIODEGRADATION N'EST PLUS EXPLIQUE PAR LE MODELE ET SE TRADUIT PAR L'APPARITION D'UN DEFICIT DU BILAN DES IONS CHLORURE RELARGUES ET PAR L'ACCUMULATION DE METABOLITES INTERMEDIAIRES. CETTE NOUVELLE LIMITATION TRADUIT UNE PHASE D'ADAPTATION TRANSITOIRE FONCTION DE LA CONCENTRATION ET DE LA NATURE DE CE SUBSTRAT. DANS UN DEUXIEME TEMPS, NOUS AVONS MONTRE QUE LES CONSTANTES CINETIQUES DE CETTE ACTIVITE PEUVENT ETRE EXPLIQUEES PAR LA CONJONCTION DE PLUSIEURS PROPRIETES PHYSICO-CHIMIQUES. CES CORRELATIONS SONT ESSENTIELLEMENT ETABLIES SUR LA BASE DES PROPRIETES DE DIFFUSION DES CHLOROPHENOLS DANS LES MEMBRANES (K O W, PK A) ET SUR LA BASE DES CONFIGURATIONS CHIMIQUES FAISANT INTERVENIR LE NOMBRE DE SUBSTITUANTS CHLORES EN POSITION ORTHO. L'ADAPTATION PROGRESSIVE D'UNE BIOMASSE AU 2,4,6-TCP EN BIOREACTEUR CONTINU S'AVERE EFFICACE ASSOCIEE A L'APPORT D'UNE SOURCE D'ENERGIE TELLE QUE LE PHENOL. EN TANT QUE CO-SUBSTRAT, LE 2,4-DCP N'APPORTE PAS D'AMELIORATION DE L'ADAPTATION DE LA BIODEGRADATION DU 2,4,6-TCP, MAIS AU CONTRAIRE NUIT AUX PERFORMANCES DU BIOREACTEUR. CETTE PHASE D'ADAPTATION MODIFIE DE MANIERE PROFONDE LES CARACTERISTIQUES DE LA BIOMASSE ADAPTEE AU PHENOL.

Waste Minimisation and End of Pipe Treatment in Chemical and Petrochemical Industries

Waste Minimisation and End of Pipe Treatment in Chemical and Petrochemical Industries PDF Author: G. Buitron
Publisher: IWA Publishing (International Water Assoc)
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 452

Book Description
Efficient non-polluting use of resources by the chemical industries requires an integrated and cost effective approach that is both holistic and multimedia. Beneficial present and future resource use should be preserved with a focus on public health and environmental protection. These proceedings contain 59 papers selected both from the oral and poster presentations, representing the best contributions to a conference with the specific aim of evaluating technologies and sharing experiences for minimization and end of pipe treatment of wastes in the chemical/petrochemical industries. This distinctive multidimensional perspective is reflected in the topics covered: wastewater minimization and management; water and wastewater characterisation; physicochemical, aerobic, anaerobic and combined wastewater treatment processes; textile waste treatment; site restoration; and volatile organic compounds treatment. Attention is given to the interaction between source control and end of pipe treatment, where changes in the first often influence the performance of the second. Owing to increasingly stringent effluent requirements including toxicity limits and ecotoxicological concerns, source control is the preferred option for waste management. The opportunities for research and improvements in practical application, as well as the need of enhanced international cooperation between disciplines, are critical to addressing current multifaceted concerns and feature strongly in the high-quality work assembled here.

Organic Micropollutants in the Aquatic Environment

Organic Micropollutants in the Aquatic Environment PDF Author: G. Angeletti
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9401133565
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 545

Book Description
More than 10 years after the "First European Symposium on Organic Micropollutants in the Aquatic Environment", the "Sixth Symposium" was held in Lisbon (Portugal) from 22 to 24 May 1990. The Symposium was organised within the framework of the Concerted Action COST 641 * which is included in the Fourth R&D Programme on the Environment of the Commission of the European Communities expiring at the end of 1990. After restructuring the Concerted Action in 1984, particular attention has been devoted to fate and transformation of organic micropollutants in the aquatic environment. Therefore, a major aim of the Symposium was to review current studies and progress in these areas, besides more general aspects related to analytical methodologies and behaviour of pollutants during water treatment processes. This volume contains the plenary papers presented in the following sessions at the Symposium: - Multidisciplinary studies - Partitioning of organic micropollutants in the aquatic environment - Novel analytical techniques in environmental chemistry - Monitoring micropollutant - Degradation of organic micropollutants during field conditions - Reclamation of polluted ground water - Chemical and photochemical oxidation - Future of environmental chemistry. In addition, extended versions of posters are included, covering the four topics which are dealt within the four Working Parties forming the structure of the Concerted Action: 1. Analytical methodologies 2. Transport and distribution 3. Transformation reactions 4. Water treatment. We believe that the Proceedings give a good overview of current activities in these fields of research in Europe.

Advances in Solid State Fermentation

Book Description
G.HAINNAUX Departement Milieu et Activites Agricoles, Centre ORSTOM, 911 Avenue d' Agropolis, B.P. 5045, 34032 Montpellier Cedex , France. Solid state fermentation, popularly abbreviated as SSF, is currently investigated by many groups throughout the world. The study of this technique was largely neglected in the past in European and Western countries and there is now a high demand for SSF, meaning in food, environment, agricultural, phannaceutical and many other biotechnological applications. It gives me satisfaction to note that the importance of this technique was realised at my department way back in 1975 since then, our team has put concentrated efforts on developing this technique. xvii Foreword Advances in Solid State Fermentation Foreword M. PUYGRENIER Agropolis Valorisation, Avenue d' Agropolis, 34394 Montpellier Cedex 5, France. On the name of the Scientific Community, I would like to express the wish that this International Symposium on SSF should be successful. Solid State Fermentation is part of biotechnology research. It consists on seeding solid culture medium with bacteria or fungi (filamentous or higher) and on producing, in this medium (solid components and exudates) metabolites and high value products. In fact, this process is very old. In older industries such the food and agricultural, this technique has been extensively used. An example of this is the production of pork sausages and Roquefort cheese. Pharmaceutical industry could make extensive use of SSF in the production of secondary metabolites of many kinds and development in this direction is soon expected.
