La Salud oral se constituye en un conjunto de actividades con efecto comprobado cientificamente sobre el individuo segun el informe publicado por la Organizacion Mundial de la Salud -OMS-, las enfermedades bucodentales son un problema que afecta cada vez con mayor frecuencia a los paises en vias de desarrollo, en especial a las comunidades mas pobres, motivo por la cual no se puede separar de la salud. El objetivo del estudio fue Identificar el estado de caries dental en ninos de 7 a 11 anos en dos instituciones educativas del area rural de Villa Rica - Cauca. El estudio es de corte descriptivo de tipo transversal para conocer la distribucion de caries en 93 escolares, se establecio comunicacion con el ente territorial, director de centro educativo, padres de familia y escolares, para contar con su consentimiento y asentimiento. A cada escolar se le realizo valoracion clinica, realizadas por los investigadores previamente calibrados en el levantamiento epidemiologico del indice coe y COP para el diagnostico de experiencia de caries dental y el indice de higiene oral simplificado (IHO-S) para determinar la higiene bucal. Food choices and eating habits are learned from many sources. The school environment plays a significant role in teaching and modeling health behaviors. For some children, foods consumed at school can provide a major portion of their daily nutrient intake. Foods and beverages consumed at school can come from two major sources: (1) Federally funded programs that include the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), the School Breakfast Program (SBP), and after-school snacks and (2) competitive sources that include vending machines, "a la carte" sales in the school cafeteria, or school stores and snack bars. Foods and beverages sold at school outside of the federally reimbursable school nutrition programs are referred to as “competitive foods” because they compete with the traditional school lunch as a nutrition source.
