Resumen: "para cumplir con el Pacto Verde y volverse climáticamente neutral para 2050, la Unión Europea debe reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero relacionadas con el transporte en un 90%. El transporte es uno de los pocos sectores en el que las emisiones son más altas en la actualidad que en 1990 y, a pesar de los esfuerzos de mitigación, siguen aumentando. Las ciudades son cruciales para lograr este ambicioso objetivo, ya que representan el 40% del transporte total por carretera en la UE. Los gobiernos locales y las partes interesadas urbanas también están impulsando la transición hacia la movilidad sostenible a través de la experimentación urbana y la innovación. La crisis del COVID-19 ha demostrado que se pueden lograr cambios drásticos en el transporte urbano si existe la voluntad política. Sin embargo, las medidas tácticas implementadas a menudo han sido iniciativas temporales o independientes que no están integradas en las vías de transición de la movilidad a más largo plazo. Este volumen explora cómo las ciudades de Europa pueden desarrollar planes de movilidad a largo plazo más sólidos y socialmente justos, permitiéndoles contribuir de manera efectiva al objetivo climático intermedio de la UE de reducir las emisiones en un 55% para 2030 y su objetivo de cero neto para 2050.
