Cette thèse propose de cartographier le parcours de navigation des usagers des EIAH pour le visualiser, visualiser pour interpréter et interpréter pour anticiper. Les profils d'apprentissage ont une influence sur les modes de navigation dans un environnement d'apprentissage en ligne. S'appuyant sur une méthodologie capable de modéliser le parcours de navigation d'un usager et d'anticiper son prochain clic sur une plateforme, notre étude cherche à élargir le champ des connaissances de l'efficacité/performance des styles d'apprentissage. La méthodologie utilisée repose sur l'analyse des traces d'utilisation élaborée à partir de 63 archives logs Web, incluant 4637 lignes de registre et 13 206 possibilités de choix de module. Le travail de recherche s'inscrit dans le cadre d'approches associant sémiologie, des sciences de l'information, psychologie cognitive et sciences de l'éducation. Trois observations ont été menées, générant des informations sur le profil de l'usager, la représentation des parcours et l'impact du style d'apprentissage dans le choix des fonctionnalités de travail offertes disponibles sur la plateforme. Les principaux résultats sont de deux types : d'une part, l'élaboration d'un outil convertissant les traces des fichiers log en parcours de navigation, et d'autre part, la confirmation d'un lien entre style d'apprentissage et mode de navigation. Ce deuxième résultat permet d'élaborer une méthode d'anticipation du nouveau choix de module sur une plateforme numérique de travail. Les applications pratiques visant à rendre exploitables ces traces dans les formations universitaires sont l'élaboration de bilans de qualité (ressources préférées, fonctionnalités moins utilisées) et l'identification des besoins de médiation pédagogique pour la compréhension de la tâche ou du processus (identifié par exemple dans l'insistance sur le module de consignes, le temps investi par un groupe ou par des trajets répétés). Cette thèse s'adresse principalement aux responsables pédagogiques universitaires décideurs de l'intégration des TIC, et par extension, aux étudiants universitaires et aux concepteurs d'outils d'apprentissage.

Design is a conceptive activity which is usually presented as a sensible, sequential process and action. This book claims that design cannot be reduced to the rational, effective planning and organization that most models (such as design thinking) present. The author suggests another type of rationality which is based on what the humanities call aesthetics, writing, composition, and style: a rationality based in imaginary elaboration and coherence. The chapters, therefore, demonstrate that design practice is about creating not only functional tools, but planes of reflections that challenge norms. To support this claim, this book analyzes research programs, art works, and design projects that produced new information and communication technologies (ICT). This is detailed using examples in each chapter. From these examples, two types of conclusions are derived: a first level considers the lessons that we can draw from these examples in terms of design practice while the second level starts a theoretical discussion based on these analyses of use cases. The goal is to develop an understanding of conception in its different forms. This book brings the use of these neglected methods to the foreground as a way to explicate the design process. Taking into consideration the humanities within design contributes to the discussion on pluridisciplinarity. The book posits that design as a historical and situated activity is a truly multidisciplinary endeavor that bridges the gap between engineering sciences and the humanities.

Text-based interaction among humans connected via computer networks, such as takes place via email and in synchronous modes such as “chat”, MUDs and MOOs, has attracted considerable popular and scholarly attention. This collection of 14 articles on text-based computer-mediated communication (CMC), is the first to bring empirical evidence from a variety of disciplinary perspectives to bear on questions raised by the new medium. Translation produces meaningful versions of textual information. But what is a text? What is translation? What is meaning? And what is a translational version? This book On Translating Signs: Exploring Text and Semio-Translation responds to those and other eternal translation-theoretical questions from a semiotic point of view. Dinda L. Gorlée notes that in this world of interpretation and translation, surrounded by our semio-translational universe "perfused with signs," we can intuit whether or not an object in front of us (dis)qualifies as a text. This spontaneous understanding requires no formalized definition in order to "happen" in the receivers of text-signs. The author further observes that translated signs are not only intelligible for target audiences, but also work together as a "theatre of consciousness" or a "theatre of controversy" which the author views as powered by Charles S. Peirce's three categories of Firstness, Secondness, and Thirdness. This book presents the virtual community of translators as emotional, dynamical, intellectual but not infallible semioticians. They translate text-signs from one language and culture into another, thus creating an innovative sign-milieu packed with intuitive, dynamic, and changeable signs. Translators produce fleeting and fallible text-translations, with obvious errors caused by ignorance or misguided knowledge. Text-signs are translatable, yet there is no such thing as a perfect or "final" translation. And without the ongoing creating of translated signs of all kinds, there would be no novelty, no vagueness, no manipulation of texts and - for that matter - no semiosis.
