It is ideal for beginners and intermediate learners to acquire some of the most important initial words that make up the majority of everyday conversation. Various features like bidirectional listing make this flashcard ebook the perfect tool on your ebook reader to boost your language skills. This ebook is split into 4 chapters and contains a total of around 2000 vocabularies which you can also find on our website. Each of the words covers two pages. Page one represents the question in the form of the vocabulary you should translate. Page two delivers the answer with translation and additional information for that word if needed. To learn the vocabularies, simply go from page to page and study the words one by one. The 4 chapters in the book contain 2 sets of vocabularies, once learned from English to Korean (chapter 1 and 2), and after that from Korean to English (chapter 3 and 4). Within that, the first chapter has vocabularies ordered by topic whilest the second chapter has 1000 of the most common vocabularies you need to learn ordered by how often they are used in daily conversations. In addition to using this ebook, you can also go to our website and use the flashcards there to learn and test yourself. The most important part of using flashcards successfully is to use them daily. Studying 100 words a day every day of a week will have a much bigger impact than studying 700 words once a week. Once you know most words in a chapter, write down the ones you still have trouble with and concentrate on those few words several times a day. Once you have moved on to a later chapter, it is also good practice to come back to early chapters from time to time to make sure the easier words are still in your memory. Over time, you will figure out what works best for you. Good luck!

Once Upon an Hour

Once Upon an Hour PDF Author: Ann Yu-Kyung Choi
Publisher: Orca Book Publishers
ISBN: 1459821297
Category : Juvenile Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 36

Book Description
Key Selling Points Combining a bedtime story with a folktale set in ancient Korea, this is a story within a story that is ultimately about the importance of working together to achieve a common goal. The author is Korean and was prompted to write this story when she realized that many of the stories she was told as a child through oral storytelling would be lost to her daughter and to a generation of young Korean Canadians/Americans who no longer read or speak Korean. The illustration process for this book was laborious and included the use of sketching and painting techniques to create three-dimensional dioramas that were then photographed. The author was recognized by the Korean Canadian Heritage Awards Committee in 2017 for her dedication to promoting Korean culture in Canada.

Korean as a Heritage Language from Transnational and Translanguaging Perspectives

Korean as a Heritage Language from Transnational and Translanguaging Perspectives PDF Author: Hyesun Cho
Publisher: Taylor & Francis
ISBN: 100078990X
Category : Language Arts & Disciplines
Languages : en
Pages : 259

Book Description
This collection critically reflects on the state-of-the-art research on Korean-as-a-heritage-language (KHL) teaching and learning, centering KHL as an object of empirical inquiry by offering multiple perspectives on its practices and directions for further research. The volume expands prevailing notions of transnationalism and translanguaging by providing insights into the ways contemporary Korean immigrant and transnational families and individuals maintain their heritage language to participate in literary practices across borders. Experts from across the globe explore heritage language and literacy practices in Korean immigrant communities in varied geographic and educational contexts. In showcasing a myriad of perspectives across KHL research, the collection addresses such key questions as how heritage language learners’ literacy practices impact their identities, how their families support KHL development at home, and what challenges and opportunities stakeholders need to consider in KHL education and in turn, heritage language education, more broadly. This book will be of interest to families, teachers, scholars, and language program administrators in Korean language education, heritage language education, applied linguistics, and bilingual education.

Dogs and Cats in South Korea

Dogs and Cats in South Korea PDF Author: Julien Dugnoille
Publisher: Purdue University Press
ISBN: 1612497063
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 143

Book Description
Dogs and Cats in South Korea: Itinerant Commodities shows that though dogs and cats are consumed in the millions each year, they are recipients of both cruelty and care in a very unique way compared to other animal species in South Korean society. The anti-imperialist and postcolonial stances associated with the consumption of dogs and cats in South Korea are oversimplistic. Stereotypes by societies that do not eat these animals overshadow the various ways in which South Korean citizens interact with them, including companionship. In fact, many dogs and cats go from companion to livestock, and from livestock to companion, demonstrating that the relationships with these creatures are not only complex, but also fluid. The trajectories of the lives of dogs and cats are never linear. In that sense, individual dogs and cats in South Korea are itinerant animals navigating an exchange system based on culture, economics, and politics. With nuance and cultural understanding, Dugnoille tells the complicated stories of these animals in South Korea, as well as the humans who commoditize and singularize them.
