Energy Dependent Hanbury Brown

Energy Dependent Hanbury Brown PDF Author: Christopher Daniel Anson

Pages : 165

Book Description
Ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions are believed to produce a state of deconfined quark-gluon plasma that is similar to the universe just after the Big Bang. To investigate the properties of this matter, a Beam Energy Scan was performed at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Lab. Information about the phase diagram describing the matter produced in these collisions can be gained by studying the beam energy dependence of various observables. One such analysis is Hanbury Brown Twiss (HBT) interferometry which is used to measure the size and shape of the regions emitting particles which are in turn related to dynamical processes that drive the evolution of the collisions.

These proceedings gather invited and contributed talks presented at the XXII DAE-BRNS High Energy Physics (HEP) Symposium, which was held at the University of Delhi, India, on 12–16 December 2016. The contributions cover a variety of topics in particle physics, astroparticle physics, cosmology and related areas from both experimental and theoretical perspectives, namely (1) Neutrino Physics, (2) Standard Model Physics (including Electroweak, Flavour Physics), (3) Beyond Standard Model Physics, (4) Heavy Ion Physics & QCD (Quantum Chromodynamics), (5) Particle Astrophysics & Cosmology, (6) Future Experiments and Detector Development, (7) Formal Theory, and (8) Societal Applications: Medical Physics, Imaging, etc. The DAE-BRNS High Energy Physics Symposium, widely considered to be one of the leading symposiums in the field of Elementary Particle Physics, is held every other year in India and supported by the Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), India. As many as 400 physicists and researchers attended the 22nd Symposium to discuss the latest advances in the field. A poster session was also organized to highlight the work and findings of young researchers. Bringing together the essential content, the book offers a valuable resource for both beginning and advanced researchers in the field.

The Hispalensis Lectures on Nuclear Physics PDF Author: Jose Miguel Arias
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9783540225126
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 356

Book Description
Powerful new techniques, including heavy ion and exotic beams, are pushing the frontiers of nuclear physics and opening up a wealth of new fields of research. After introductory chapters on theoretical and experimental aspects of nuclear collisions and beams, ``Exotic Nuclear Physics'' offers articles by experienced lecturers on forefront topics in nuclear physics, such as the conquest of the neutron and the proton drip-lines, nuclear astrophysics, the equation of state of hypernuclear matter, nuclear supersymmetry and chaotic motion in nuclei. This volume continues the successful tradition of published lecture notes from the Hispalensis International Summer School. It will benefit graduate students and lecturers in search of advanced material for self-study and courses as will as researchers in search of a modern and comprehensive source of reference.

Exciton Polaritons in Microcavities

Exciton Polaritons in Microcavities PDF Author: Daniele Sanvitto
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642241867
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 416

Book Description
In the past decade, there has been a burst of new and fascinating physics associated to the unique properties of two-dimensional exciton polaritons, their recent demonstration of condensation under non-equilibrium conditions and all the related quantum phenomena, which have stimulated extensive research work. This monograph summarizes the current state of the art of research on exciton polaritons in microcavities: their interactions, fast dynamics, spin-dependent phenomena, temporal and spatial coherence, condensation under non-equilibrium conditions, related collective quantum phenomena and most advanced applications. The monograph is written by the most active authors who have strongly contributed to the advances in this area. It is of great interests to both physicists approaching this subject for the first time, as well as a wide audience of experts in other disciplines who want to be updated on this fast moving field.
