Endlewood

Endlewood PDF Author: Alissa Zavalianos
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781736137161
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 432

Book Description
In Griskol, magic and deceit are forbidden. And to practice any form of them could lead to death. Holland doesn't know who she is. For reasons she can't explain, she's drawn to the tragic story, The Tale of Endlewood, seeking to leave home and find where she belongs, even if it means disguising her identity-an action that could cost her everything. Markus Fenn has always known his purpose: to farm the land his father left behind and to care for his aging mother and younger siblings. Unlike his best friend, Holland, he's content with his lot in life. But when a sinister plot rocks the country of Griskol, Holland finds herself in the middle of the chaos, and Markus' familiar, rural life is upended in the midst of it. Griskol may have been right about magic all along. In this epic tale of love and loss, accompanied by mermaids, fae, and dragons, will Holland find where she truly belongs? Or will she open her heart enough to realize her home has been with her this whole time?

Modern Biogeochemistry

Modern Biogeochemistry PDF Author: V.N. Bashkin
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 0306481030
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 493

Book Description
Modern Biogeochemistry is aimed to generalize modern ideas of biogeochemical developments during the last decades. It is designed to support a general course in biogeochemistry, and as such, is likely to have a broad market among the many universities and colleges that are adding such courses to their curricula. This book aims to supplement the existing textbooks by providing modern understanding of biogeochemistry, from evolutionary biogeochemistry to practical applications of biogeochemical ideas such as human biogeochemistry, biogeochemical standards and biogeochemical technologies. To a certain extent this textbook is a summary of both scientific results of various authors and classes in biogeochemistry, that have been given to students by authors during the last 5 to 10 years at different universities throughout the world such as Cornell, Moscow, Seoul and Bangkok. Biogeochemistry is becoming an increasingly popular subject for graduate and postgraduate education. Courses in ecology, geography, biology, chemistry, environmental science, public health and environmental engineering all tend to have a biogeochemical component in their syllabuses to a greater or lesser extent.

Optimization Methods and Applications

Optimization Methods and Applications PDF Author: Xiao-qi Yang
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 147573333X
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 439

Book Description
This edited book is dedicated to Professor N. U. Ahmed, a leading scholar and a renowned researcher in optimal control and optimization on the occasion of his retirement from the Department of Electrical Engineering at University of Ottawa in 1999. The contributions of this volume are in the areas of optimal control, non linear optimization and optimization applications. They are mainly the im proved and expanded versions of the papers selected from those presented in two special sessions of two international conferences. The first special session is Optimization Methods, which was organized by K. L. Teo and X. Q. Yang for the International Conference on Optimization and Variational Inequality, the City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, 1998. The other one is Optimal Control, which was organized byK. ~Teo and L. Caccetta for the Dynamic Control Congress, Ottawa, 1999. This volume is divided into three parts: Optimal Control; Optimization Methods; and Applications. The Optimal Control part is concerned with com putational methods, modeling and nonlinear systems. Three computational methods for solving optimal control problems are presented: (i) a regularization method for computing ill-conditioned optimal control problems, (ii) penalty function methods that appropriately handle final state equality constraints, and (iii) a multilevel optimization approach for the numerical solution of opti mal control problems. In the fourth paper, the worst-case optimal regulation involving linear time varying systems is formulated as a minimax optimal con trol problem.

Fractional Integral Transforms

Fractional Integral Transforms PDF Author: Ahmed I. Zayed
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1040003710
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 347

Book Description
Fractional Integral Transforms: Theory and Applications presents over twenty-five integral transforms, many of which have never before been collected in one single volume. Some transforms are classic, such as Laplace, Fourier, etc, and some are relatively new, such as the Fractional Fourier, Gyrator, Linear Canonical, Special Affine Fourier Transforms, as well as, continuous Wavelet, Ridgelet, and Shearlet transforms. The book provides an overview of the theory of fractional integral transforms with examples of such transforms, before delving deeper into the study of important fractional transforms, including the fractional Fourier transform. Applications of fractional integral transforms in signal processing and optics are highlighted. The book’s format has been designed to make it easy for readers to extract the essential information they need to learn the about the fundamental properties of each transform. Supporting proofs and explanations are given throughout. Features Brings together integral transforms never before collected into a single volume A useful resource on fractional integral transforms for researchers and graduate students in mathematical analysis, applied mathematics, physics and engineering Written in an accessible style with detailed proofs and emphasis on providing the reader with an easy access to the essential properties of important fractional integral transforms Ahmed I. Zayed is a Professor of Mathematics at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, DePaul University, Chicago, and was the Chair of the department for 20 years, from 2001 until 2021. His research interests varied over the years starting with generalized functions and distributions to sampling theory, applied harmonic analysis, special functions and integral transforms. He has published two books and edited seven research monographs. He has written 22 book chapters, published 118 research articles, and reviewed 173 publications for the Mathematical Review and 81 for the Zentralblatt für Mathematik (zbMath). He has served on the Editorial Boards of 22 scientific research journals and has refereed over 200 research papers submitted to prestigious journals, among them are IEEE, SIAM, Amer. Math. Soc., Math Physics, and Optical Soc. Journals.
