Miniature Needle Painting Embroidery

Miniature Needle Painting Embroidery PDF Author: Trish Burr
Publisher: Milner Craft (Paperback)
ISBN: 9781863514705
Category : Crafts & Hobbies
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
Annotation. Trish has always been fascinated by miniature art and for years has had a yen to try and embroider smaller pieces. There is something so endearing about little paintings with all the detail and form of a larger piece, not to mention the fact that they are much quicker to stitch! Here she has compiled fresh and appealing designs that depict the pretty, romantic illustrations typical of the Victorian and post-Victorian eras. Each project is accompanied by a detailed thread diagram which shows exactly which colour should be used and where. The small size of the designs allows for great flexibility in their final usea such as group framing, making up into cushions, book covers, quilt squares, needle cases, box lids, tote bags, pockets on clothing and so on.

Embroidery Stitches (Classic Reprint) PDF Author: Mary Elizabeth Wilkinson

Pages : 212

Book Description
Excerpt from Embroidery Stitches A point somewhat overlooked in Art Embroidery is the fact that each separate stitch is a design in itself. If this principle be fully recognised, the necessity for careful and systematic study of the forms and functions of Embroidery Stitches will immediately become obvious to the student and worker. Embroidery Stitches is planned with a View to facilitating reference, and to affording immediate conception of the inti mate connection between illustration and explanation. To attain this end, the illustrations are placed in uniform spaces throughout the volume, two on each page and in each case the description appears opposite its corresponding design. An Embroidery Book (Classic Reprint)

An Embroidery Book (Classic Reprint) PDF Author: Anne Knox Arthur

Book Description
Excerpt from An Embroidery Book Most people have a superstition that in knowledge of a multitude Of stitches lies the whole mystery Of needle work. This is emphatically not the case. There really is no mystery about stitches they are but the letters Of the needleworker's alphabet, and the words Of her lan guage - to be used according to her Own ideas. One may embroider poems; another may embroider prayers and praises for her church; another may beautify a fair woman's garment or sing a little song in stitches for a baby's robe; yet another may be like a treatise on sur gery, repairing and restoring that which has been damaged. But needlework does not exist for the stitches. It is the stitches Which - as they are well or ill-used express the worker, and, if she is a wise Worker, she can find out for herself most Of the stitches she needs. Nor is it necessary to be at great expense in needlework, indeed, for those who take it up as a recreative craft half the interest may lie in the fact that no material is too common or too homely to be made into something fitting and, therefore, beautiful - since the truest art is to make a thing pleasing to the eye and yet entirely suited to the purpose. Book Description
Excerpt from The Development of Embroidery in America A history of the needlework of the world would be a history of the domestic accomplishment of the world, that inner story of the existence of man which bears the relation to him of sunlight to the plant. We can deduce from these needle records much of the physical circumstances of woman's long pilgrimage down the ages, of her mental processes, of her growth in thought. We can judge from the character of her art whether she was at peace with herself and the world, and from its status we become aware of its relative importance to the conditions of her life. Category : Crafts & Hobbies

Pages : 24

Book Description
Excerpt from Needle Painting, or Landscape Embroidery The great number of books already issued on the subject of Embroidery, have doubtless rendered the general public familiar with its history. Students of the Bible will readily recall the de scription of the curtains of the Ark which Moses was commanded to build. These hangings, for the gate of the court, says sacred history, were of blue and purple and scar let and fine twined linen, wrought with needle work. The garments also of the High Priest were, a broidered coat, a mitre and a girdle, with the ephod of gold, of blue, of purple, of scarlet and fine twined linen, with cunning work. Again, in the building of the Temple of Solomon, the veil for the Temple was, of blue, and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and wrought cherubim thereon. In fact, from Bible times to the present, altar cloths and priestly robes, exquisite in design, have been cunningly wrought with the needle.
