Book Description
Advanced Control Engineering provides a complete course in control engineering for undergraduates of all technical disciplines. Starting with a basic overview of elementary control theory this text quickly moves on to a rigorous examination of more advanced and cutting edge date aspects such as robust and intelligent control, including neural networks and genetic algorithms. With examples from aeronautical, marine and many other types of engineering, Roland Burns draws on his extensive teaching and practical experience presents the subject in an easily understood and applied manner. Control Engineering is a core subject in most technical areas. Problems in each chapter, numerous illustrations and free Matlab files on the accompanying website are brought together to provide a valuable resource for the engineering student and lecturer alike. - Complete Course in Control Engineering - Real life case studies - Numerous problems

Automatic Control, Robotics, and Information Processing

Automatic Control, Robotics, and Information Processing PDF Author: Piotr Kulczycki
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030485870
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 843

Book Description
This book presents a wide and comprehensive range of issues and problems in various fields of science and engineering, from both theoretical and applied perspectives. The desire to develop more effective and efficient tools and techniques for dealing with complex processes and systems has been a natural inspiration for the emergence of numerous fields of science and technology, in particular control and automation and, more recently, robotics. The contributions gathered here concern the development of methods and algorithms to determine best practices regarding broadly perceived decisions or controls. From an engineering standpoint, many of them focus on how to automate a specific process or complex system. From a tools-based perspective, several contributions address the development of analytic and algorithmic methods and techniques, devices and systems that make it possible to develop and subsequently implement the automation and robotization of crucial areas of human activity. All topics discussed are illustrated with sample applications.

Artificial Intelligence and Security in Computing Systems

Artificial Intelligence and Security in Computing Systems PDF Author: Jerzy Soldek
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 144199226X
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 303

Book Description
Artificial Intelligence and Security in Computing Systems is a peer-reviewed conference volume focusing on three areas of practice and research progress in information technologies: -Methods of Artificial Intelligence presents methods and algorithms which are the basis for applications of artificial intelligence environments. -Multiagent Systems include laboratory research on multiagent intelligent systems as well as upon their applications in transportation and information systems. -Computer Security and Safety presents techniques and algorithms which will be of great interest to practitioners. In general, they focus on new cryptographic algorithms (including a symmetric key encryption scheme, hash functions, secret generation and sharing schemes, and secure data storage), a formal language for policy access control description and its implementation, and risk management methods (used for continuous analysis both in distributed network and software development projects).

Cognitive Task Analysis

Cognitive Task Analysis PDF Author: Jan Maarten Schraagen
Publisher: Psychology Press
ISBN: 1135665303
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 546

Book Description
Cognitive task analysis is a broad area consisting of tools and techniques for describing the knowledge and strategies required for task performance. Cognitive task analysis has implications for the development of expert systems, training and instructional design, expert decision making and policymaking. It has been applied in a wide range of settings, with different purposes, for instance: specifying user requirements in system design or specifying training requirements in training needs analysis. The topics to be covered by this work include: general approaches to cognitive task analysis, system design, instruction, and cognitive task analysis for teams. The work settings to which the tools and techniques described in this work have been applied include: 911 dispatching, faultfinding on board naval ships, design aircraft, and various support systems. The editors' goal in this book is to present in a single source a comprehensive, in-depth introduction to the field of cognitive task analysis. They have attempted to include as many examples as possible in the book, making it highly suitable for those wishing to undertake a cognitive task analysis themselves. The book also contains a historical introduction to the field and an annotated bibliography, making it an excellent guide to additional resources.

Marine Propulsion Simulation

Marine Propulsion Simulation PDF Author: Michele Martelli
Publisher: Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG
ISBN: 3110401509
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 112

Book Description
The propulsion system behaviour is a key aspect for the overall dynamics of a ship. However, despite its great importance, numerical methodologies for detailed investigations on marine propulsion dynamics are not yet widely covered in scientific literature. This book presents the main steps for the development of a multi-physic simulation platform, able to represent the motions of a twin screw ship in six degrees of freedom, taking into account the whole propulsion system and automation effects. A number of mathematical sub-models had been developed and calibrated by a set of experimental tests, in model and full scale. Finally, the sea trials campaign of a ship is used to validate and tune the developed simulator. The proposed simulation methodology can be used in the ship preliminary design phase, in order to plan and test the propulsion system and automation. Further applications can include the design optimization and crew training.
