Book Description
Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2017 in the subject Physics - Quantum Physics, grade: 4.00, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, course: Nanostructure Physics, language: English, abstract: We have investigated electron transmission through non-tunneling regime of a semiconductor nanostructure called Coupled Quantum Well (CQW). Oscillatory transmission coefficient as a function of energy is found to show spectacular waxing and waning in amplitude. Corresponding features are expected to be observed in optical (Physical Review B 54 (1996) 1541) and quantum transport (Physical Review Letters 58 (1987) 816) experiments and hence the results besides verifying the Physics will have impact on future devices based on CQW.

COUPLED QUANTUM WELL IN LONGITUDINAL MAGNETIC FIELD

COUPLED QUANTUM WELL IN LONGITUDINAL MAGNETIC FIELD PDF Author: Uttam Kumar Chowdhury
Publisher: American Academic Press
ISBN: 1631818198
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 154

Book Description
The book deals with pure Nanostructure Physics of tunneling regime of GaAs-AlGaAs Coupled Quantum Well (CQW) in presence of magnetic field perpendicular to GaAs-AlGaAs interfaces. The book presents thorough and complete analytical calculations leading to a transcendental equation obeyed by the magnetic field dependent quasi-bound energy levels of CQW. Thorough numerical investigations are reported to bring out effects of the magnetic field on the quasi-bound energy levels. The effects have been successfully and completely explained in terms of a magnetic field dependent effective potential. The book has comprehensive analytical and numerical account of the problem. The book contains background on Quantum Mechanics, Microelectronics, Nanostructure Physics and Classical Mechanics to enable readers assimilate the book completely.

Non-Tunneling Regime of Coupled Quantum Well

Non-Tunneling Regime of Coupled Quantum Well PDF Author: Sujaul Chowdhury
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781631818097
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 215

Book Description
The book deals with pure Physics of non-tunneling regime of a semiconductor nanostructure called Coupled Quantum Well (CQW). The book presents thorough and complete analytical calculations leading to an analytic expression for transmission coefficient T of CQW in non-tunneling regime. Numerical investigations are reported in exhaustive detail to bring out features of T versus E (energy) curves and parametric variations of energy of maxima and minima of T versus E curves. The book contains successful and comprehensive, analytical, numerical, qualitative and quantitative account of electron transmission through non-tunneling regime of CQW.

Magnetic Field Effects on Quantum Wells

Magnetic Field Effects on Quantum Wells PDF Author: Sujaul Chowdhury
Publisher:
ISBN: 9780735423862
Category : SCIENCE
Languages : en
Pages : 114

Book Description
This book is an analysis of a semiconductor nanostructure called isolated GaAs-AlGaAs quantum well (QW). It details the connectivity between quantum mechanics and semiconductor physics and is the first comprehensive book on this topic. It provides a detailed analysis of the application of quantum mechanics of semiconductor nanostructures and electron transport under the influence of magnetic field. Electronics, lasers, atomic clocks, and magnetic resonance scanners all fundamentally depend on our understanding of the quantum nature of light and matter explored in this book. Magnetic Field Effects on Quantum Wells is a highly technical treatment featuring: -- Calculated parametric variations of transmission coefficient of the QW in non-tunneling regime in absence and in presence of magnetic field applied perpendicular to GaAs-AlGaAs interfaces -- Explanations of magnetic field dependence of the parametric variations in a quantitatively exact manner -- Presentations of background material on microelectronics, nanostructure physics, and classical mechanics This is an invaluable resource for researchers, scientists, industry professionals, faculty, and graduate students working with quantum mechanics. It is an excellent text for post-graduates conducting research in semiconductor and condensed matter.

Physics of Quantum Well Devices

Physics of Quantum Well Devices PDF Author: B.R. Nag
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 0306471272
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 309

Book Description
Quantum well devices have been the objects of intensive research during the last two decades. Some of the devices have matured into commercially useful products and form part of modern electronic circuits. Some others require further dev- opment, but have the promise of being useful commercially in the near future. Study of the devices is, therefore, gradually becoming compulsory for electronics specialists. The functioning of the devices, however, involve aspects of physics which are not dealt with in the available text books on the physics of semicond- tor devices. There is, therefore, a need for a book to cover all these aspects at an introductory level. The present book has been written with the aim of meeting this need. In fact, the book grew out of introductory lectures given by the author to graduate students and researchers interested in this rapidly developing area of electron devices. The book covers the subjects of heterostructure growth techniques, band-offset theory and experiments, electron states, electron-photon interaction and related phenomena, electron transport and the operation of electronic, opto-electronic and photonic quantum well devices. The theory as well as the practical aspects of the devices are discussed at length. The aim of the book is to provide a comprehensive treatment of the physics underlying the various devices. A reader after going through the book should find himself equipped to deal with all kinds of quantum well devices.

Hot Electron Birefringence and Absorption in Tunnel-Coupled Quantum Wells Due to Real Space Transfer

Hot Electron Birefringence and Absorption in Tunnel-Coupled Quantum Wells Due to Real Space Transfer PDF Author: L. E. Vorobjev
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 4

Book Description
Birefringence and absorption modulation under longitudinal electric field in the tunnel-coupled GaAs/AtGaAs quantum wells have been found and investigated in the spectral region corresponding to intersubband electron transitions. The observed phenomena are explained by electron heating in electric field and electron transfer in real space. The equdirium absorption spectra at different lattice temperatures are analyzed too.
