Actuellement, de nombreux auteurs reconnaissent que les difficultés de communication des personnes aphasiques ne sont pas uniquement la résultante d’un système langagier défaillant. Un déficit de la MDT et des fonctions exécutives serait également en cause. Ainsi, une rééducation de la MDT doit être envisagée afin d’optimiser la récupération langagière. Au vu du manque d’outils thérapeutiques de la MDT adaptés aux personnes aphasiques, nous avons élaboré un protocole de rééducation de la MDT destiné aux personnes aphasiques basé sur le modèle de Baddeley (2000) et sur l’apport de Miyake (2000). L’objectif de notre travail est d’évaluer l’efficacité, la spécificité de ce programme et les transferts des acquis en vie quotidienne. Nous l’avons testé à l’aide d’une méthodologie rigoureuse en lignes de base multiples selon les comportements chez une personne présentant une aphasie modérée. Les résultats obtenus - non généralisables - montrent l’efficacité de ce programme ainsi que sa spécificité puisque les résultats aux épreuves non-cibles n’ont pas progressé. L’hypothèse de transfert des acquis est partiellement validée, la thérapie ayant permis à la patiente de prendre pleinement conscience de ses difficultés autres que langagières. Nos résultats ont permis d'observer l'adaptabilité de notre protocole à une aphasie modérée. Ce programme pourrait être appliqué auprès d’une population plus large de patients cérébro-lésés afin de confirmer la significativité statistique de son efficacité.
