Automation of Finite Element Methods

Automation of Finite Element Methods PDF Author: Jože Korelc
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319390058
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 367

Book Description
New finite elements are needed as well in research as in industry environments for thedevelopment of virtual prediction techniques. The design and implementation of novel finiteelements for specific purposes is a tedious and time consuming task, especially for nonlinearformulations. The automation of this process can help to speed up this processconsiderably since the generation of the final computer code can be accelerated by order ofseveral magnitudes. This book provides the reader with the required knowledge needed to employ modernautomatic tools like AceGen within solid mechanics in a successful way. It covers the rangefrom the theoretical background, algorithmic treatments to many different applications. Thebook is written for advanced students in the engineering field and for researchers ineducational and industrial environments.

Structural Dynamic Systems Computational Techniques and Optimization

Structural Dynamic Systems Computational Techniques and Optimization PDF Author: Cornelius T. Leondes
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1351413236
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 338

Book Description
The finite element, an approximation method for solving differential equations of mathematical physics, is a highly effective technique in the analysis and design, or synthesis, of structural dynamic systems. Starting from the system differential equations and its boundary conditions, what is referred to as a weak form of the problem (elaborated in the text) is developed in a variational sense. This variational statement is used to define elemental properties that may be written as matrices and vectors as well as to identify primary and secondary boundaries and all possible boundary conditions. Specific equilibrium problems are also solved. This book clearly reveals the effectiveness and great significance of the finite element method available and the essential role it will play in the future as further development occurs.

Finite Element Programs in Structural Engineering and Continuum Mechanics

Finite Element Programs in Structural Engineering and Continuum Mechanics PDF Author: Carl T. F. Ross
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0857099833
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 637

Book Description
Bridging the gap between theoretical texts and the massive and expensive software packages, this handbook covers finite element programming in a wide range of problems in mechanical, civil, aeronautical and electrical engineering. Comprehensive, it ranges from the static analysis of two- and three-dimensional structures to stress analysis of thick slabs on elastic foundations, and from two- and three- dimensional vibration analysis problems to two-dimensional field problems including heat transfer and acoustic vibrations. The 24 printouts of powerful and valuable engineering computer programs, written in QUICK BASIC, are introduced by a preliminary chapter giving useful hints and formulae intended for structural design. The programs are capable of analysing problems in engineering design and manufacture, with text fully describing how to use the computer programs for their particular problems or tasks. The finite element method is used in all the programs, and the problems for analysis can be of quite complex design and shape and with complex boundary conditions. - Covers finite element programming in a wide range of problems in mechanical, civil, aeronautical and electrical engineering - Ranges from the static analysis of two- and three-dimensional structures to stress analysis of thick slabs on elastic foundations
