Author: Jaap Bloem
Publisher: CABI
ISBN: 9781845932398
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 344
Book Description
This book provides a selection of microbiological methods which are applicable or already applied in regional or national soil quality monitoring programmes. An overview is given of approaches to monitoring, evaluating and managing soil quality (Part I), followed by a selection of methods which are described in sufficient detail to use the book as a practical handbook in the laboratory (Part II). Finally a census is given of the main methods used in over 30 European laboratories. The book is aimed at different levels: soil scientists, technicians, policy makers, land managers and students.

Nutrient Management in Fodder Maize-Rapeseed Cropping System
Author: Dulal Ghosh
Publisher: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing
ISBN: 9783659363993
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 96
Book Description
This book deals with integrated nutrient management in fodder maize-rapeseed cropping system. The results indicated that adequate nutrition might be achieved by balanced application of organic and inorganic sources of nutrients along with biofertilizers. Application of 50% recommended dose of nitrogen (RDN) through organic manures (30 kg N ha-1) and 50% recommended dose of fertilizer (RDF) through chemical fertilizers (30 kg N 15 kg P2O5 and 15 kg K2O ha-1) along with biofertilizer (Azotobacter) improved most of the growth and yield attributes and increased yield of fodder maize and succeeding rapeseed. It also improved the quality parameters of fodder maize, enhanced N, P and K contents in both the crops, recorded higher uptake of N, P and K by the cropping system, paid higher return and improved/sustained soil fertility as compared to those of the other treatments. The book will be useful for UG/PG students, researchers, extension workers and fodder growers.

Integrated Nutrient Management Practices on Maize Growth Parameters, Yield Parameters and Yield of Maize
Author: Ariraman R
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 0
Book Description
Integrated nutrient management (INM) is a management strategy that aims at maintaining or adjusting of soil fertility and plant nutrient supply to an optimum level for sustaining the desired crop productivity through all possible sources of plant nutrients in an integrated manner through a balanced use of fertilizers combined with organic sources. Growth parameters, yield components, yield of maize were highly enhanced by integrated use of chemical and organic fertilizer is crucial for assuring food security. Combined use decreases the nutrient losses by slow release and reducing the input cost of fertilizer. Different kinds of organic materials such as FYM, animal manures, green manures, crop residues, composts, and industrial wastes have been used in maize systems. The concepts and research evidences from eminent scientists proves that integrated nutrient management enhances the productivity of maize and soil fertility sustenance.
