L'éducation thérapeutique du patient fait désormais partie intégrante de la prise en charge des maladies chroniques. Les programmes d'éducation thérapeutique en cancérologie contribuent à l'optimisation des traitements, à la réduction de leurs effets secondaires et ainsi à l'amélioration de la qualité de vie des patients. L'ETP au sein des établissements prenant en charge des patients atteints de cancer est un enjeu de la qualité des soins. Le projet réalisé au sein d'une unité d'oncologie médicale a pour objectif de dresser un état des lieux des orientations et des pratiques en matière d'éducation des patients, et, dans un deuxième temps, de réaliser auprès des patients une évaluation de l'impact des actions éducatives. Deux cohortes de patients ont été envisagées en fonction des traitements administrés dans les protocoles de chimiothérapie (voie intraveineuse ou voie orale). Les résultats ont pu être confrontés avec les récentes recommandations du guide méthodologique publié par la Haute autorité de santé et des perspectives d'évolution des pratiques d'éducation actuelles sont proposées.
