All specimens of mammals from Eritrea, Somaliland, Sudan, Abyssinia, Lado Enclave, Uganda, British East Africa, and German East Africa, including Zanzibar, contained in the collection have been critically examined and listed. The territory included in the report is shown in figure 1. As with the groups treated in the earlier part, the great bulk of the material listed Was collected by the Smithsonian African Expedition under the direction of Col. Theodore Roosevelt, 1909 - 10; and by the Paul J. Rainey African Expedition, 1911 - 12.
