Dynamics, Information and Complexity in Quantum Systems

Book Description
This second edition of Dynamics, Information and Complexity in Quantum Systems widens its scope by focussing more on the dynamics of quantum correlations and information in microscopic and mesoscopic systems, and their use for metrological and machine learning purposes. The book is divided into three parts: Part One: Classical Dynamical Systems Addresses classical dynamical systems, classical dynamical entropy, and classical algorithmic complexity. Includes a survey of the theory of simple perceptrons and their storage capacity. Part Two: Quantum Dynamical Systems Focuses on the dynamics of entanglement under dissipative dynamics and its metrological use in finite level quantum systems. Discusses the quantum fluctuation approach to large-scale mesoscopic systems and their emergent dynamics in quantum systems with infinitely many degrees of freedom. Introduces a model of quantum perceptron whose storage capacity is computed and compared with the classical one. Part Three: Quantum Dynamical Entropies and Complexities Devoted to quantum dynamical entropies and algorithmic complexities. This book is meant for advanced students, young and senior researchers working in the fields of quantum statistical mechanics, quantum information, and quantum dynamical systems. It is self-contained, and the only prerequisites needed are a standard knowledge of statistical mechanics, quantum mechanics, and linear operators on Hilbert spaces.

Information Dynamics and Open Systems

Information Dynamics and Open Systems PDF Author: Roman S. Ingarden
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9401718822
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 317

Book Description
This book has a long history of more than 20 years. The first attempt to write a monograph on information-theoretic approach to thermodynamics was done by one of the authors (RSI) in 1974 when he published, in the preprint form, two volumes of the book "Information Theory and Thermodynamics" concerning classical and quantum information theory, [153] (220 pp.), [154] (185 pp.). In spite of the encouraging remarks by some of the readers, the physical part of this book was never written except for the first chapter. Now this material is written completely anew and in much greater extent. A few years earlier, in 1970, second author of the present book, (AK), a doctoral student and collaborator of RSI in Toruli, published in Polish, also as a preprint, his habilitation dissertation "Information-theoretical decision scheme in quantum statistical mechanics" [196] (96 pp.). This small monograph presented his original results in the physical part of the theory developed in the Torun school. Unfortunately, this preprint was never published in English. The present book contains all these results in a much more modern and developed form.

Quantum Dynamics and Information

Quantum Dynamics and Information PDF Author: Robert Olkiewicz
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9814317438
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 241

Book Description
The central theme of this lecture collection is quantum dynamics, regarded mostly as the dynamics of entanglement and that of decoherence phenomena. Both these concepts appear to refer to the behavior of surprisingly fragile features of quantum systems supposed to model quantum memories and to implement quantum date processing routines. This collection may serve as an essential resource for those interested in both theoretical description and practical applications of fundamentals of quantum mechanics.

Dynamics of Complex Quantum Systems

Dynamics of Complex Quantum Systems PDF Author: Vladimir M. Akulin
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 940077205X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 683

Book Description
This book gathers together a range of similar problems that can be encountered in different fields of modern quantum physics and that have common features with regard to multilevel quantum systems. The main motivation was to examine from a uniform standpoint various models and approaches that have been developed in atomic, molecular, condensed matter, chemical, laser and nuclear physics in various contexts. The book should help senior-level undergraduate, graduate students and researchers putting particular problems in these fields into a broader scientific context and thereby taking advantage of well-established techniques used in adjacent fields. This second edition has been expanded to include substantial new material (e.g. new sections on Dynamic Localization and on Euclidean Random Matrices and new chapters on Entanglement, Open Quantum Systems, and Coherence Protection). It is based on the author’s lectures at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, at the CNRS Aimé Cotton Laboratory, and on other courses he has given over the last two decades.

Thinking in Complexity

Thinking in Complexity PDF Author: Klaus Mainzer
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3662030144
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 329

Book Description
Complexity and nonlinearity are prominent features in the evolution of matter, life, and human society. Even our mind seems to be governed by the nonlinear dynamics of the complex networks in our brain. This book considers complex systems in the physical and biological sciences, cognitive and computer sciences, social and economic sciences, and philosophy and history of science. An in terdisciplinary methodology is introduced to explain the emergence of order in nature and mind and in the econ omy and society by common principles. These methods are sometimes said to foreshadow the new sciences of complexity characterizing the scientific deve10pment of the 21 st century. The book critically an alyzes the successes and limits of this approach, its sys tematic foundations, and its historical and philosophical background. An epilogue discusses new standards of eth ical behavior which are demanded by the complex prob lems of nature and mind, economy and society.
