Dynamic Reconfiguration in Distributed Systems

Dynamic Reconfiguration in Distributed Systems PDF Author: Christine Hofmeister
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Distributed parameter systems
Languages : en
Pages : 17

Book Description
We present a technique for automatically preparing a module to capture and restore its state during reconfiguration, given a set of reconfiguration points designated by the programmer. Our focus in this paper is on the difficult problem of capturing and restoring the state of a module in the midst of a procedure call, when the information stored in the activation record stack is a crucial part of the process state."

Middleware 2000

Middleware 2000 PDF Author: Joseph Sventek
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3540455590
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 447

Book Description
Middleware is everywhere. Ever since the advent of sockets and other virtu- circuit abstractions, researchers have been looking for ways to incorporate high- value concepts into distributed systems platforms. Most distributed applications, especially Internet applications, are now programmed using such middleware platforms. Prior to 1998, there were several major conferences and workshops at which research into middleware was reported, including ICODP (International C- ference on Open Distributed Processing), ICDP (International Conference on Distributed Platforms) and SDNE (Services in Distributed and Networked - vironments). Middleware’98was a synthesis of these three conferences. Middleware 2000 continued the excellent tradition of Middleware’98. It p- vided a single venue for reporting state-of-the-art results in the provision of distributed systems platforms. The focus of Middleware 2000 was the design, implementation, deployment, and evaluation of distributed systems platforms and architectures for future networked environments. Among the 70 initial submissions to Middleware 2000, 21 papers were - lected for inclusion in the technical program of the conference. Every paper was reviewed by four members of the program committee. The papers were judged - cording to their originality, presentation quality, and relevance to the conference topics. The accepted papers cover various subjects such as caching, re?ection, quality of service, and transactions.

Book Description
There is a growing interest in programming languages and systems based on nonclassical logics such as temporal logics, interval logics, modal and intuitionistic logics. In fact, a whole new programming paradigm called 'intensional programming' has been created, with applications in a wide range of areas, including parallel programming, dataflow computation, temporal reasoning, scientific computation, real-time programming, temporal and multidimensional databases, spreadsheets, attribute grammars, and Internet programming. This volume presents ongoing research as well as future directions of this new and fascinating area of research.

Intelligence in Communication Systems

Intelligence in Communication Systems PDF Author: Finn Arve Aagesen

Book Description
The 2004 IFIP International Conference on Intelligence in Communication S- tems(INTELLCOMM2004),heldinBangkok,Thailand,23–26November2004, was the successor and an expansion of SMARTNET, a series of annual conf- ences on intelligence in networks held during 1995–2003 under the auspices of IFIP TC6’s Working Group 6. 7. The Internet and Web provide more connection facilities, hence the man-man, man-machine and machine-machine interactions will increase and communication will have an important role in modern s- tems. Inordertoobtaine?ectiveande?cientcommunication, artistic, socialand technical issues have to be tackled in a holistic and integrated manner. However, communicationtechniques, conceptsandsolutionswhichhavebeendevelopedso far treat these issues separately, so that there arises a need for communication researchers and practitioners in di?erent ?elds (engineering, science and arts) to meet, share their experience and explore all possibilities of developing in- grated and advanced solutions which incorporate ideas from such disciplines as communication arts, art design, linguistics, Web technologies, computer system architecture and protocols, computer science and arti?cial intelligence. INTELLCOMM 2004 was jointly sponsored by IFIP WG 6. 7: Smart N- works and WG 6. 4: Internet Applications Engineering and aimed to provide an international forum which brings academia, researchers, practitioners and s- vice providers together. The discussion areas covered the latest research topics andadvancedtechnologicalsolutionsintheareaofintelligenceincommunication systems, ranging from architectures for adaptable networks/services and Sem- ticWeb/Webservicestechnologiestointelligentserviceapplicationinterfaceand intelligent human interaction. INTELLCOMM 2004 received 112 paper submissions from 28 countries. From these, 24 were accepted, and are included in this proceedings. There were also 3 papers accepted for poster presentation, published separately.
