Nous avons réalisé une étude rétrospective, puis prospective de onze patients diabétiques insulino-dépendants traités en ambulatoire par infusion continue sous-cutanée d'insuline à l'aide de pompes portables. Après avoir exposé le matériel utilisé en donnant les caractéristiques techniques et le coût des pompes, nous avons expliqué la mise en route de ce type de thérapeutique. Une fois les indications posées, nous avons pu comparer l'évolution métabolique biologique et clinique avant et après le traitement par pompe à insuline. Nous avons pu apprécier une amélioration significative des paramètres biologiques glycémiques, une bonne tolérance générale et l'absence satisfaisante d'accidents graves; mais nous n'avons pu conclure à l'amélioration des complications dégénératives du diabète.
