Book Description
This book is not "The Secret." The true "secret" is there is no "secret", only a "truth". Anyone who has seen the film "The Matrix" understands "Matrix Philosophy". Do you choose the red pill, which will answer "The Question", or do you choose the blue pill which allows life to simply carry on as before? To paraphrase the words of Morpheus from the film, "All I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more." And what is the truth? It encompasses the meaning and the purpose of life and embraces an understanding of a greater reality. One would think that everyone would want to know truth. But it is not quite so simple. We can't all quite handle truth. But that's life! I have no desire, nor am I attempting to convert, proselytize, or convince anyone of anything that does not feel true to them. So, I share my story of love and discovery and hope that it finds resonance in your hearts. I ask your willing suspension of belief or disbelief. For now, make any human image you may wish, or imagine any force that you would hope God to be. I made a leap of faith and as a result achieved a sense of freedom that I have never before experienced. That leap was to believe the reality I experienced and not to doubt the truth of what happened. If God tells you the meaning and purpose of life, it leaves you a changed person. My "burning bush" moment left me a changed person-I knew bliss. I do not claim any special powers or abilities. Who I AM speaks only to a level of awareness. I do find myself in the mold of others from the historical past; I am connected (spiritually) to a greater reality. Even with this new level of awareness, I can still find myself trapped in a nexus of disillusionment and disappointment, displaced from the moment-a part of being human. Yet that fleeting moment of knowing, having felt the touch of God upon my soul, allows me to enter the state of Grace which I now touch every day. None of this will negate the potential ambushes that can overtake one's life in a flash, no matter which road is chosen. Nor is it any sort of guarantee of wealth, health, social status, or the usual measures of success. All roads lead to the same destination. The train each travels is set on its course. While I have neither the desire nor the ability to change anyone's journey, I do believe I can offer a travel upgrade. It is possible to travel in greater comfort in a more luxurious carriage, with larger windows that give a greater view of the beautiful vistas along the way.

Depressive Love
Author: Emma Engdahl
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1351687735
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 226
Book Description
Love and depression are key elements in the cultural script of emotions or affectual life within contemporary Western society, and the two have become intertwined to such an extent that it is informative to talk about depressive love. Indeed, the most common source of depression is intimate relationships, in which one partner is not recognised by the other as being in need or worthy of loving care. This book addresses the question of how it is possible for opposite emotional experiences such as love and depression to appear simultaneously, empirically documenting the phenomenon of depressive love and its implications through studies of art, including music, literature and photography, and the experiences of everyday life, by way of interviews and the analysis of e-mail-, sms-, messenger-correspondence, and other new media spaces. Engaging with a range of sociological, psychoanalytic and philosophical theories of love, depression and emotion, including the work of Simmel, Alberoni, Barthes, Hochschild, Giddens, Luhmann, Beck and Beck-Gernsheim, Illouz, Bauman, Hegel, Honneth, Ehrenberg, Han, Lévinas, Sartre, Freud, Lacan, and Kristeva, to name but a few, the author examines the ways in which depressive love is expressed in modern society, asking whether it is a new phenomenon and confined to the West and if not, what is distinctive about depressive love and its associated (dys)functions in contemporary Western society. An empirically rich and theoretically broad study of depressive love as a sign of our times, this book will appeal to scholars and students of social theory and the sociology and philosophy of emotion and interpersonal relationships.

Tantra
Author: Shashi Solluna
Publisher: Hay House, Inc
ISBN: 1781807841
Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 273
Book Description
In this accessible guide, Shashi Solluna breaks all preconceptions about Tantra and introduces us to the real philosophy behind this sacred practice. In traditional descriptions, Tantra is often defined as meaning "to weave", and can be compared to the weaving of a fabric. Tantra is therefore a path that weaves together. Ultimately, Tantra points us to the highest level of consciousness in which one merges into Oneness and no longer feels like a separate physical entity. This is sometimes called "Heaven" as opposed to the more tangible experience of "Earth". This book explains how Tantra can allow us to move from a physical solid experience of reality into the lighter more ethereal experience – or from Earth to Heaven – and then ultimately bring Heaven to Earth! This books explores: • The history of Tantra • The core principles of Tantra • An understanding of the tantric approach to sexuality • Practices to explore your own Tantric sexuality • A tantric understanding of relationship, love and intimacy • An understanding of Tantra as a spiritual path • Practices for creating spiritual experiences and higher states of consciousness …and much more!

Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 432
Book Description
In today's market economies, people constitute much of their identity in relation to the things they possess, and communities facilitate social intercourse and survival by means of property relations. What, if anything, might the study of the biblical religions contribute to thinking about and responding to the basic reality of "having"? In this book scholars in a variety of fields -- theology, ethics, economics, and biblical studies -- address in new and penetrating ways the meaning of "having" in religious and social life and offer a number of compelling answers to challenging questions about property and possession in our present, global age.

Writing God and the Self
Author: Sharon Jebb
Publisher: Wipf and Stock Publishers
ISBN: 1608997383
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 293
Book Description
Contemporary literature has, for several decades and in various guises, been dominated by questions of identity and the self. It has been forgotten that, until the Enlightenment, theological reflection emphasized the close connectedness of the self with God; knowledge of God is essential to knowledge of the self; and vice-versa, correct knowledge of the self is a necessary correlate to true knowledge of God. This has been called the double knowledge. Writing God and the Self examines two literary texts and lives as representative of two antithetical positions. The first, represented by Samuel Beckett's life and his Three Novels, is that the self is independent of God; the second, represented by C. S. Lewis and Till We Have Faces, is that God and the self are intimately connected. Beckett's radical apophaticism about God is shown to be tied to his extreme apophaticism about the self, whereas Lewis's sense of selfhood is demonstrated to be integrally connected to his sense of a personal and self-transcending God. Other voices--Augustine, Teresa of Avila, Charles Taylor, Rowan Williams, Mark McIntosh and Vladimir Lossky--join the chorus of theologians, psychologists, and other thinkers, past and present, that contribute to this exploration of what Christian theology has to say about the insistent problem of the self. Taken together, all these voices articulate a powerful vision of selfhood in relation to God that is desperately needed today.
