Este artículo busca desarrollar una metodología estructurada que apoye el diagnóstico temprano de la depresión, la cual estará soportada en el diseño y la implementación de distintos modelos estadísticos, cuya finalidad es estimar la probabilidad de que un individuo esté en riesgo de sufrir depresión, haciendo uso de variables socio demográficas, hábitos de salud y factores de riesgo relacionados con el trastorno. Estas variables, fueron seleccionadas mediante revisión de literatura y criterio de un grupo de profesionales en el campo de la psicología clínica. Los modelos serán construidos sobre 46 variables en una muestra de 610 estudiantes universitarios. Posteriormente, serán comparados entre sí con el fin de encontrar aquél, que mejor desempeño presente y que pueda causar un impacto positivo sobre el diagnóstico y tratamiento de la enfermedad sobre la población estudiantil.
