Resumen: El interés por crear aplicaciones para dispositivos móviles ha aumentado en la medida que estos han demostrado funcionalidad y se han popularizado. Hasta hace relativamente poco, las empresas que desarrollaban aplicaciones móviles, buscaban realizar solo un desarrollo multiplataforma, que valiera para el mayor número de dispositivos posible. El costo de desarrollar este tipo de aplicaciones era por entonces muy alto, siendo necesario realizar diversas adaptaciones para sacar el mayor rendimiento de cada dispositivo; ahora simplemente se trata de efectuar el desarrollo de aplicaciones nativas para cada plataforma. También se puede decir, que hoy en día, algunas aplicaciones móviles se han incrustado en el campo de las tecnologías de la información, jugando un doble papel en la economía, provocando el cambio y ayudando a las personas a adaptarse a él, tanto así que, desde hace dos décadas han traspasado el ámbito empresarial hasta llegar a influenciar en las actividades diarias de las personas (1). Por otra parte, teniendo en cuenta que un factor clave para el crecimiento de cualquier empresa es la innovación, y ya que las aplicaciones para dispositivos móviles se destacan ahora por su funcionalidad, Une Telefónica de Pereira, como empresa de comunicaciones líder de la región, se ha empeñado en hacer uso de estas tecnologías, allegándose a sus clientes por medio de aplicaciones que les suministren la información requerida acerca de sus productos y servicios, información que actualmente es entregada por la página Web empresarial o mediante los asesores comerciales asignados. Siguiendo estos argumentos, se ha decidido, por parte de los desarrolladores de esta propuesta, unir estos dos conceptos, la popularidad y aceptación de las aplicaciones móviles, y la política de calidad de servicios que maneja la empresa, para desarrollar una aplicación que permita a los usuarios acceder a algunos de los servicios de la empresa, de forma directa desde su terminal.

An analysis of divergent online news preferences of journalists and consumers and what this means for media and democracy in the digital age. The websites of major media organizations—CNN, USA Today, the Guardian, and others—provide the public with much of the online news they consume. But although a large proportion of the top stories these sites disseminate cover politics, international relations, and economics, users of these sites show a preference (as evidenced by the most viewed stories) for news about sports, crime, entertainment, and weather. In this book, Pablo Boczkowski and Eugenia Mitchelstein examine the divergence in preferences and consider its implications for the media industry and democratic life in the digital age. Drawing on analyses of more than 50,000 stories posted on twenty news sites in seven countries in North and South America and Western Europe, Boczkowski and Mitchelstein find that the gap in news preferences exists regardless of ideological orientation or national media culture, and that it is not affected by innovations in forms of storytelling, such as blogs and user-generated content on mainstream news sites.
