Stochastic Dominance Option Pricing

Stochastic Dominance Option Pricing PDF Author: Stylianos Perrakis
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3030115909
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 294

Book Description
This book illustrates the application of the economic concept of stochastic dominance to option markets and presents an alternative option pricing paradigm to the prevailing no arbitrage simultaneous equilibrium in the frictionless underlying and option markets. This new methodology was developed primarily by the author, working independently or jointly with other co-authors, over the course of more than thirty years. Among others, it yields the fundamental Black-Scholes-Merton option value when markets are complete, presents a new approach to the pricing of rare event risk, and uncovers option mispricing that leads to tradeable strategies in the presence of transaction costs. In the latter case it shows how a utility-maximizing investor trading in the market and a riskless bond, subject to proportional transaction costs, can increase his/her expected utility by overlaying a zero-net-cost portfolio of options bought at their ask price and written at their bid price, irrespective of the specific form of the utility function. The book contains a unified presentation of these methods and results, making it a highly readable supplement for educators and sophisticated professionals working in the popular field of option pricing. It also features a foreword by George Constantinides, the Leo Melamed Professor of Finance at the Booth School of Business, University of Chicago, USA, who was a co-author in several parts of the book.

Financial Derivatives Pricing

Financial Derivatives Pricing PDF Author: Robert A. Jarrow
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9812819223
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 609

Book Description
This book is a collection of original papers by Robert Jarrow that contributed to significant advances in financial economics. Divided into three parts, Part I concerns option pricing theory and its foundations. The papers here deal with the famous Black-Scholes-Merton model, characterizations of the American put option, and the first applications of arbitrage pricing theory to market manipulation and liquidity risk.Part II relates to pricing derivatives under stochastic interest rates. Included is the paper introducing the famous HeathOCoJarrowOCoMorton (HJM) model, together with papers on topics like the characterization of the difference between forward and futures prices, the forward price martingale measure, and applications of the HJM model to foreign currencies and commodities.Part III deals with the pricing of financial derivatives considering both stochastic interest rates and the likelihood of default. Papers cover the reduced form credit risk model, in particular the original Jarrow and Turnbull model, the Markov model for credit rating transitions, counterparty risk, and diversifiable default risk.

Mathematical Models in Finance

Mathematical Models in Finance PDF Author: S.D. Howison
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 9780412630705
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 164

Book Description
Mathematical Models in Finance compiles papers presented at the Royal Society of London discussion meeting. Topics range from the foundations of classical theory to sophisticated, up-to-date mathematical modeling and analysis. In the wake of the increased level of mathematical awareness in the financial research community, attention has focused on fundamental issues of market modelling that are not adequately allowed for in the standard analyses. Examples include market anomalies and nonlinear coupling effects, and demand new synthesis of mathematical and numerical techniques. This line of inquiry is further stimulated by ever tightening profits due to increased competition. Several papers in this volume offer pointers to future developments in this area.

Computational Intelligence Applications to Option Pricing, Volatility Forecasting and Value at Risk

Computational Intelligence Applications to Option Pricing, Volatility Forecasting and Value at Risk PDF Author: Fahed Mostafa
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 331951668X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 177

Book Description
This book demonstrates the power of neural networks in learning complex behavior from the underlying financial time series data. The results presented also show how neural networks can successfully be applied to volatility modeling, option pricing, and value-at-risk modeling. These features mean that they can be applied to market-risk problems to overcome classic problems associated with statistical models.

Book Description
Futures and Options are concerned with the valuation of derivatives and their application to hedging and speculating investments. This book contains 22 chapters and is divided into five parts. Part I contains an overview including a general introduction as well as an introduction to futures, options, swaps, and valuation theories. Part II: Forwards and Futures discusses futures valuation, the futures market, hedging strategies, and various types of futures. Part III: Option Theories and Applications includes both the basic and advanced valuation of options and option strategies in addition to index and currency options. Part IV: Advanced Analyses of Options takes a look at higher level strategies used to quantitatively approach the analysis of options. Part V: Special Topics of Options and Futures covers the applications of more obscure and alternative methods in derivatives as well as the derivation of the Black-Scholes Option Pricing Model. This book applies an active interdisciplinary approach to presenting the material; in other words, three projects involving the use of real-world financial data on derivative, in addition to homework assignments, are made available for students in this book.

Weak Convergence of Financial Markets

Weak Convergence of Financial Markets PDF Author: Jean-Luc Prigent
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3540248315
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 432

Book Description
A comprehensive overview of weak convergence of stochastic processes and its application to the study of financial markets. Split into three parts, the first recalls the mathematics of stochastic processes and stochastic calculus with special emphasis on contiguity properties and weak convergence of stochastic integrals. The second part is devoted to the analysis of financial theory from the convergence point of view. The main problems, which include portfolio optimization, option pricing and hedging are examined, especially when considering discrete-time approximations of continuous-time dynamics. The third part deals with lattice- and tree-based computational procedures for option pricing both on stocks and stochastic bonds. More general discrete approximations are also introduced and detailed. Includes detailed examples.
