Book Description
A method for the measurement of diffusion coefficients of vapors in gases is described in which the motion of a bead of volatile liquid is observed in a tube with a microporous membrane at one end. Results are given for air with ethyl acetate, benzene, ethanol, and methanol at 22.3C and 1 atm total pressure. The determined behavior of the diffusion-tube system may be considered in studies and measurements of diffusion coefficients of vapors. (Author).

A Determination of Diffusion Coefficients for Gaseous Systems at Various Temperatures

A Determination of Diffusion Coefficients for Gaseous Systems at Various Temperatures PDF Author: Roger A. Strehlow
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Diffusion
Languages : en
Pages : 262

Book Description
The transport property which is most fundamentally related to forces between unlike molecules is the ordinary diffusion due to concentration gradients. Unfortunately, this property and its dependence upon temperature have not been systematically studied experimentally, with the result that the literature does not contain the data necessary to obtain good force constants for the introduction of unlike molecuels. The present work describes an experimental method for determining diffusion coefficients, based on the variation of thermal conductivity with composition in binary mixtures which is capable of being used over a wide range of temperature. Experimental results for the systems n-butane-hydrogen, sulfur hexafluoride-hydrogen, argon-hydrogen, and argon-helium are given for a temperature range from 10°C. to 140°C.

Binary Diffusion Coefficients of Liquid Vapors in Gases

Binary Diffusion Coefficients of Liquid Vapors in Gases PDF Author: A. N. Berezhnoi
Publisher: Begell House Publishers
ISBN: 9781567000788
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 200

Book Description
In this book, the authors describe experimental methods of measuring binary diffusion coefficients of liquid vapors in gases. Experimental data on binary diffusion coefficients are given over a wide range of temperature and pressure ranges, and reflect the up-to-date results. Main sections of the book cover the experimental measurement of binary diffusion coefficients, results of experimental measurements at atmospheric pressure and various temperatures, and results of experimental measurements at various pressures and temperatures.
