Diffractive Dissociation Production of Heavy Vector Mesons in Ultra Peripheral Collisions from LHC to FCC.

Diffractive Dissociation Production of Heavy Vector Mesons in Ultra Peripheral Collisions from LHC to FCC. PDF Author: Michael Saylor

Book Description
We investigate the process of the diffractive production of the J/[psi] vector meson in the ultraperipheral proton-lead collisions at LHC and FCC-hh energies. We focus on the diffractive process at large momentum transfer, -t, when the proton or a lead nucleus dissociates and its remnants are still separated by the large rapidity gap from the vector meson. The process is directly sensitive to the properties of the Pomeron, a color singlet composite of gluons, which is responsible for the of the presence rapidity gap. The energy and t dependence of the pomeron is described by the solution to the non-forward BFKL equation. The ultraperipheral collisions between protons and lead at LHC allow for a study of this process in a large rapidity range. The rapidity distributions of J/[psi] are computed in the case when the Pomeron interacts with the proton as well as in the case when it couples to the nucleus. Predictions for the energies of the FCC hadron-hadron collider are also made.

Deep Inelastic Scattering And Related Phenomena

Deep Inelastic Scattering And Related Phenomena PDF Author: Giulio D'agostini

Book Description
This workshop is the fourth of a series initiated in Durham (March 93), followed by Eilat (February 94) and Paris (April 95). The large interest and the great inflow of experimental data, coming mainly from HERA, are some of the reasons behind the decision to have this annual meeting, presently the most important one for this area of research. During the workshop, experimental results and theoretical aspects have been reported on subjects, which have been organised by working groups on: 1) hadron structure functions; 2) photoproduction and photon structure; 3) diffractive interactions; 4) hadronic final states; 5) spin effects in lepton nucleon scattering; 6) special session on theoretical advances. While the contributions to the working groups offer hot material for specialists, the reports by the conveners, as well as other contributions to the plenary sessions, offer to nonspecialists a complete overview of this research field.

Qcd And Multiparticle Production - Proceedings Of The Xxix International Symposium On Multiparticle Dynamics

Qcd And Multiparticle Production - Proceedings Of The Xxix International Symposium On Multiparticle Dynamics PDF Author: Ina Sarcevic
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9814542938
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 542

Book Description
This volume concentrates on three main areas of current research in high energy physics: (1) multiparticle and diffractive production in perturbative and nonperturbative QCD, (2) confinement-deconfinement mechanism and the RHIC physics, and (3) interface between high-energy collisions and cosmic-ray/astro-physics. The specific topics covered include: QCD at high energies, diffractive production, and small-x physics, multiparticle production and systematics: correlations and fluctuations, hadronic final states in e+e-, lepton-hadron and hadron-hadron collisions, relativistic heavy ion collisions, interface between high-energy collisions and cosmic-ray physics, and recent development in deconfinement.

Lepton and Photon Interactions at High Energies

Lepton and Photon Interactions at High Energies PDF Author: Richard Brenner
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9812566627
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 532

Book Description
The Lepton-Photon symposiums ? as represented by the contributions in this volume ? are among the most popular conferences in high energy physics since they give an in-depth snapshots of the status of the field as provided by leading experts. The volume covers the latest results on flavor factories, quantum chromodynamics (QCD), electroweak physics, dark matter searches, neutrino physics and cosmology, from a phenomenological point of view. It also offers a glimpse of the immediate future of the field through summaries on the status of the next generation of high energy accelerators and planned facilities for astroparticle physics. The review nature of the articles makes the volume particularly useful to students, as well as being of interest to established researches in high-energy physics and related fields.

Particle Production Spanning MeV and TeV Energies

Particle Production Spanning MeV and TeV Energies PDF Author: W. Kittel
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9401141266
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 458

Book Description
Particle production is an important topic in nuclear and particle physics. At high energies, particle production is considered to proceed via parton branching and subsequent fragmentation into hadrons. The study of the dynamics of this process and the study of the structure of hadrons in the context of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) belong to the challenges of the standard model of elementary particle physics, requiring new, nonperturba tive approaches in field theory. Within a nucleus, many-body dynamics is important and particle production may be used to determine many features of a non-equilibrium quantum system at low or high temperatures. At this Advanced Study Institute the different aspects of particle pro duction were expanded upon in a series of lectures given by experts in their fields, covering topics ranging from near-threshold meson production in proton-proton collisions to correlations in multi-GeV jet fragmentation in high-energy scattering processes and signals of a quark-gluon plasma formed in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Strong emphasis was placed not only on state of the art research, but also on the necessary physics back ground. The lectures were supplemented by problem sets and discussion sessions. There was also time for students to present short contributions on their research.

Book Description
The proceedings of this workshop gather the latest experimental results from HERA and capture new trends in HERA phenomenology. Although the presentations are by experts, they are suitable for both theoreticians and experimentalists. H1 members also cover ZEUS results and vice versa. This volume serves to point out existing discrepancies between experimental data and theoretical predictions and to identify projects to take on in the future.
