Para ello, cada uno de los términos seleccionados irá brevemente definido para proporcionar a continuación los étimos de los que está compuesto. Como se verá, en la práctica totalidad de los casos dichos términos tienen un origen grecolatino. La principal razón estriba en el hecho de que saber cuál es el origen de las palabras de un idioma ayuda no solo a conocerlo con mayor profundidad, sino a entender y comprender mejor otros idiomas cercanos ⸺o no tan cercanos⸺ a la propia lengua.
