The book explains the development of catalysts for Water Gas Shift (WGS) reaction at different temperatures and steam/CO ratios, and also discussing the effect of different dopants on the WGS activity of iron oxide and the promotion and inhibition roles of the dopants on the WGS activity of iron oxide are explained. In addition, the book describes extensive characterization of modified ferrite catalysts, especially with Mossbauer spectroscopy and its advantage in understanding properties of metal doped ferrite catalysts, the exact dopant location, and its effect on electron hopping capability and WGS activity of Fe redox couple. Outlines the importance of the Water Gas Shift Reaction and its application for hydrogen production Provides detailed information on potential catalysts, their development, and their pros and cons, giving the reader insights on how modified ferrite catalysts work at different temperatures and different steam to CO ratios Reviews hydrogen technology, its current importance, and production methods Presents a clear presentation of the topics with many graphics and tables Offers basic and advanced knowledge of catalysts characterization instrumental techniques

Membrane Reactors for Hydrogen Production Processes

Membrane Reactors for Hydrogen Production Processes PDF Author: Marcello De Falco
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 0857291513
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 244

Book Description
Membrane Reactors for Hydrogen Production Processes deals with technological and economic aspects of hydrogen selective membranes application in hydrogen production chemical processes. Membrane Reactors for Hydrogen Production Processes starts with an overview of membrane integration in the chemical reaction environment, formulating the thermodynamics and kinetics of membrane reactors and assessing the performance of different process architectures. Then, the state of the art of hydrogen selective membranes, membrane manufacturing processes and the mathematical modeling of membrane reactors are discussed. A review of the most useful applications from an industrial point of view is given. These applications include: natural gas steam reforming, autothermal reforming, water gas shift reaction, decomposition of hydrogen sulphide, and alkanes dehydrogenation. The final part is dedicated to the description of a pilot plant where the novel configuration was implemented at a semi-industrial scale. Plant engineers, researchers and postgraduate students will find Membrane Reactors for Hydrogen Production Processes a comprehensive guide to the state of the art of membrane reactor technology.

This is a key reference for R&D managers in industry interested in the development of chemical processes by membrane reactor technologies as well as academic researchers and postgraduate students working in the wider area of the strategic chemical, separation, and purification processes. Focuses on the best strategies for carrying out membrane reactor processes Analyzes critical aspects of conversion, selectivity, and yield in membrane reactor systems Includes all developments of transport phenomena/chemical kinetics in various chemical processes in membrane reactor systems Provides a practitioners’ perspective on the fundamentals, applications, modeling, experimental, and design concepts of membrane reactor systems

A Catalytic Membrane Reactor for Facilitating the Water-gas Shift Reaction at High Temperature

A Catalytic Membrane Reactor for Facilitating the Water-gas Shift Reaction at High Temperature PDF Author:
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 7

Book Description
This program is directed toward the development of a metal-membrane-based process for the economical production of hydrogen at elevated temperature by the reaction of carbon monoxide with steam--i.e., the water-gas shift (WGS) reaction. Key to achieving this objective is the development of an inexpensive and durable metal-membrane module. The specific program objectives include the following: design, fabrication, and demonstration of prototype membrane modules; improving the membrane composition to increase the hydrogen flux; demonstrating that membrane lifetime ≥2 years is likely to be achieved; and conducting engineering and economic analyses of the process. Results to date are given and discussed.

Membrane Engineering for the Treatment of Gases

Membrane Engineering for the Treatment of Gases PDF Author: Enrico Drioli
Publisher: Royal Society of Chemistry
ISBN: 1849733481
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 345

Book Description
Membranes already have important applications in artificial organs, the processing of biotechnological products, food manufacture, waste water treatment, and seawater desalination. Their uses in gaseous mixture separations are, however, far from achieving their full potential. Separation of air components, natural gas dehumidification and sweeting, separation and recovery of CO2 from biogas, and H2 from refinery gases are all examples of current industrial applications. The use of membranes for reducing the greenhouse effect and improving energy efficiency has also been suggested. New process intensification strategies in the petrochemical industry have opened up another growth area for gas separation membrane systems and membrane reactors. This two volume set presents the state-of-the-art in membrane engineering for the separation of gases. It addresses future developments in carbon capture and utilization, H2 production and purification, and O2/N2 separation. Topics covered include the: applications of membrane gas separation in the petrochemical industry; implementation of membrane processes for post-combustion capture; commercial applications of membranes in gas separations; simulation of membrane systems for CO2 capture; design and development of membrane reactors for industrial applications; Pd-based membranes in hydrogen production; modelling and simulation of membrane reactors for hydrogen production and purification; novel hybrid membrane/pressure swing adsorption process for gas separation; molecular dynamics as a new tool for membrane design, and physical aging of membranes for gas separations. Volume 2 looks at problems combined with membrane reactors.
